The project is sponsored by the board of directors. TRAINING WORKSHOP: A training workshop for counselors dealing with American Association of Retired Persons, Medigap, Medicaid and Medicare is being held at the Senior Citizens Center, 1824 Western Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Call local coordinator Ruth Stanhope, 772-1308, for information. The workshop is sponsored by AARP. EASTERN STAR: Chillicothe Chapter 419, Order of Eastern Star, will have installation of officers at the Eastern Star Temple, West Main Street, at 7:30 p.m. Members are to take food for the Christmas baskets to be distributed to worthy families. LIBRARY: Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library Board meets at 7 p.m.

Dave Hoffman from Learning Ladder will present a program on class supplements, rewards and educational Christmas gifts. Thursday SECRET SANTA: Several local barber shops and beauty salons will be participating in Special Santa Haircut Day. For each haircut given, 25 cents goes into the Secret Santa fund. The participating shops will have a sign in the window. FIRST CAPITAL SENIORS: The First Capital Senior Citizens will have its annual Christmas luncheon at the Valley House Restaurant, Central Center, at 11 a.m.

Members are to take canned goods for the Good Samaritan food bank. FREE CHEESE AND HONEY: The Ross County. Senior Citizens Center, 1824 Western will be distributing free cheese and honey from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and from 8 a.m.

to noon tomorrow to those people 55 and older who are under the income guidelines. Other distribution sites will be the Bainbridge and Kingston Nutrition Sites, Adelphi, Hallsville, Londonderry, Clarksburg, Twin, Buckskin, Colerain, Paint, Jefferson, Franklin, Harrison, Huntington Townships. PIKE LIBRARY: On display during the holidays at the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library will be a ceramic manger scene, courtesy of Dr. and Mrs.

Chris Hanners. BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC: A free blood pressure clinic will be held at Marietta Place, 60 Marietta Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be open to the public. SKATING PARTY: Londonderry PTO is sponsoring a skating party from 7 to 9 p.m.

at Skate-A-Way. The event is open to the public. OVEREATERS ANONYMOUS: A program of recovery for complusive overeaters will meet from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Mental Health Center, 4449 Ohio 159. BROWN BAG LUNCHES: There will be a brown bag lunch at the Ross County Coalition Against Domestic Violence office, 131 E.

Main from noon to 1:15 p.m. OVEREATERS ANONYMOUS: Circleville Overeaters Anonymous meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Mental Health Center, 145 Morris Road, behind Big Bear. RESTORATION FOUNDATION: The Restoration Foundation will meet at 7 p.m. at the Lucy Webb Hayes House.

Friday SECRET SANTA: Special Santa Craft Bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and an auction will be held at 7 p.m. at Huntington Hall, with all proceeds to go to Special Santa. Refreshments will be available.

HOME BUILDERS: South Central Ohio Home Builders Association's Christmas party will be held at the Rodeway Inn, with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 8. There will be a gift exchange (one gift per couple). FARMERS UNION: Ross County Farmers Union's meeting and Christmas party will be at 6:30 p.m. at the YMCA.

Those attending are to take covered dishes, table service and gifts. Cost is $2. Punch and meat will be furnished. Election of officers and convention delegates will be held. NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS: A "New Horizons" basic text closed meeting for 7:30 p.m.

at the Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center. SQUARE DANCE: Bill Bumgarner will be the caller for the Buckeye Twister Square Dance Club from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center. HOEDOWN: Wagon Wheelers Square Dance Club is sponsoring a Hoedown Square Dance with the Happy Hollow Boys of Athens from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Wagon Wheelers square dance building, Summit Street, Jackson.

Delver Richards will be the caller. RESCUE MISSION: The Rev. David Rosa will be the speaker at services at the Rescue Mission, 70 W. Water at 7:30 tonight and tomorrow night. Saturday MITTEN TREE: The annual McIntyre Mitten Tree, coordinated by the Soroptimist of Chillicothe, will be under the portico of the Ross County Courthouse from noon to 2 p.m.

The public may take mittens, gloves, warm hats, scarves, sweaters and other warm clothing to decorate the tree. Clean and servicable used items as well as new ones will be accepted. BOYCHOIR OF AMERICA: The National Boychoir of America A will present a concert at St. Mary's Church, 30 E. Fourth at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free. COOKIE WALK: Homemade Christmas cookies will be available at a Walk" at Walnut Street United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. $2.50, $5 and $10 boxes will be provided. SANTA BREAKFAST: The Chillicothe High School Cavalites will present a Santa Breakfast in the cafeteria from 9 a.m.

to noon. The program will include a 20- minute Cavalite show, cartoons, a visit with Santa in addition to the child's breakfast. Elementary-age and younger children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Per sonalized Christmas ornaments, cookies and photographs of the child with Santa will be available for purchase. Tickets ($2) may be purchased at area elementary schools or from Cavalites.

HOLIDAY BAZAAR: Holiday craft bazaar and bake sale will be held upstairs at the Eagles Lodge, 378 Douglas from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are tables for rent to the public. For information, call 772-2643 or 772-2361. The bazaar is sponsored by the Eagles Auxili ary.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT SHOW: The annual Pike County Senior Citizens Christmas craft show will be held at the center, 408 Walnut Waverly, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Home I refreshments will be available. HIGH SCHOOL DANCE? All area high school students may attend a dance at Bishop Flaget School, 570 Parsons from 8 to 10:30 p.m. SNOW WHITE PLAY: Chillicothe Civic Theatre and Chillicothe City Schools will present "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the Black Forest" at 7 p.m.

Thacker Wilby C. Thacker, 80, Hopetown Village, died at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 in Medical Center Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born March 24, 1907, in Ross County to George and Florence Dowd Thacker.

Surviving is a brother and sisterin-law, Elmer C. and Edith Thacker, Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mable, and a brother, Dewey. Mr. Thacker was retired.

Funeral services are to be held 1 p.m. Friday in the Ware Funeral Home with Rev. Wilber C. Crace officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
