Married Womens Club Lawn Party Young Married Women's Club of Clarksburg entertained Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen E. Ater, Clarksburg. There was a lawn dinner served at 6:30 o'clock.

There were 68 guests attending the event. Out-of-town guests were: Maj. and Mrs. Jack C. Morris and son, Jackie, Alamogordo, N.

and Kathy Bingham, Pittsburgh, Pa. There were fourteen regular members and their families present including: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamman and children; Mr. and Mrs.

Edward Climer was program leader at the meeting of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Londonderry Methodist Church Thursday evening at Mrs. Wilbert Hixon's home, Londonderry. Miss Mary Sollars gave the devotions. All members participated the program. Mrs.

Harold Ratcliff read a a a a poem. Refreshments were served by the hostess. It was announced members are to meet at 9. a. Aug.

28, to clean the church. The next meeting will be Sept. 12 at the home of Mrs. Doyle Griesheimer, Londonderry. Sixty-Two Attend Hatfield Reunion Sixty-two people attended the sixth annual Hatfield reunion Sunday, Aug.

4, at Yoctangee Park. Mrs. Harry R. Johnson conducted a business session following the basket dinner. Mrs.

William Marsh was elected chairman of the 1958 reunion. ports were given by Mrs. William F. Hodge and Mrs. Paul Hatmacher.

Reunion reservation committee appointed includes Mr. William Marsh, Mr. William Hodge and Mr. William Hatfield. Special prizes were awarded to: Mrs.

Henry Hatmacher, largest family; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hatmacher, youngest married couple; Mr. and Mrs. W.

H. Hatfield, oldest married couple; Philip Sparks, youngest boy; Peggy Lynne Ward, youngest girl; and Miss Donna Jean Thomas, traveled the farthest. Game prizes were won by Marsha Dailey, Patty Hatfield, Arlan Dailey, Billy Billy Marsh, Harry Marsh, Bob Marsh, Rex Sparks, Mrs. Mary Marsh, Mr. Richard Mon and Mrs.

Elmdale Grange To Work at County Fair Elmdale Grange's participation in the Ross County Fair was discussed Saturday night when Grange members met at the hall. Mr. Roger Ross presided. It was announced Elmdale will work with Bourneville Grange Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the Pomona Grange cafeteria at the fair.

Schedule of workers was compiled. Mr. Burton Hertenstein explained the operation of the fair gate and members volunteered to work at the gate. Minutes were read by Mrs. Carl Speaknian, Communication was read concerning the razing of the National Grange Building at Washington D.

C. Arrangements were made for the public chicken and fish dinner to 1 be held Sept. 7. Committees appointed include: advertising, Mr. Arthur Crago; cooks, Mr.

Ray Davis Mrs. Dwight Davis of Kingston, director of Juniors, South East District, Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs, will be in charge of the OFWC District Evaluation Day, Junior Division, Thursday at the Kingston Methodist Church. Schedule for the day includes registration at 9 a. m. and luncheon, at noon.

The session will conclude at 3 o'clock. Representatives of clubs in 19 counties will participate. Purpose of the convention is to discuss projects for the coming year. State and district officers planning to attend include: Mrs. Ray Davis of Circleville, president of OFWC; Mrs.

Cootiette Club Gives Party for VA Patients One hundred twenty-two VA Hospital patients were entertained Wednesday evening by Cootiette Club No. 80. The party, a monthly affair, was given for patients in Wards and of Building 24. Refreshments were served and cigarettes distributed. Assisting were Mrs.

12, 1957 Minister to Retire: The Rev. Clyde A. Walter, EUB pastor formerly in this area, will retire on Aug. 16 after 47 years in the ministry. He has been pastor of Moreland, Portsmouth, for seven years.

The pastor, a native of Gallia County, had as his first charge a circuit of nine churches in Pike County, which he traveled mostly on foot and occasionally on horseback. He then served in several areas including Hallsville before going to Wellston in 1942. During his nine years there he established the Wellston Camp Meeting and was instrumental in purchasing the grounds, building the tabernacle there and making extensive improvements. The Rev. Mr.

Walter has served Southeast Conference as president of the board, district superintendent and historian. During the last few years he has assisted in compiling and writing a history of the conference. He and Mrs. Walter are attending the annual EUB Conference at Lancaster through Friday. They will move from Portsmouth later this month to Wellston, where they have owned a home for several years.

They also visited Mrs. Wurster's brother and sister-inlaw, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cory, Minneapolis, and returned home via the Canadian Rockies where they spent five days. Mrs.

Merle Kisler, 406 Chestnut has had as her guest the last three weeks her sister-in-law, Mrs. R. C. Dixon, Louisville, Ky. Mrs.

Dixon was called here by the illness and death of her mother, Mrs. A. J. Dixon. She will return home Monday afternoon.

Foster Rinehart, 389 W. Fourth has been a student for three weeks at the George Brackman Art School in Connecticut. She and other pupils from 20 states and three foreign countries specialized in portraiture under Mr. Brackman, a Russian artist. Mrs.

Rinehart also toured the Naval Submarine Base at New London, Conn. -0- TAKE FISHING TRIP Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fisher' and sons, Neil and Max, 306 Piatt returned Friday night from a fishing trip to Munuscong Bay, near Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

Mr. Fisher reports that they had beautiful weather and good fishling luck during their two weeks there. They took a side trip to Canada and a sight-seeing through the American and Canadian locks. Two Attend District BPW Session Mrs. T.

Ray' Parker and Miss Aurelia Groninger, president and first vice president of the Chillicothe Business and Professional Club, attended the District Presidents' meeting Sunday at Wardell's Party Home, Circleville. A business session followed the 1 p.m. dinner. Mrs. Clarissa Talbott of Circleville, director of District 10, was in charge.

Plans were made for the coming Mrs. Parker was elected secretary of the district. Announcement was made of National I Business Women's Week, Sept. 22 through 28. An invitation was extended by the Cincinnati Club to meet with that club on Sept.

28 when National President Hazel Palmer, Sedalia, will be honored. Plans were discussed for the district meeting to be held Oct. 13, with the Washington C.H. Club as hostess. Presidents attending the session were Mrs.

Parker, Chillicothe, Mrs. Mack Sauer, Leesburg, Mrs. Edna Chappalear, Portsmouth, Mrs. Helen Dillon, Greenfield, Mrs. Opal Pfeifer, Waverly, and Miss Ruth Neff, Circleville.

Additional guests were Miss Groninger, Eula Watt, Greenfield, Lillian Ellis, Leesburg, and Anna Chandler, Circleville. Huntington Garden Club Picnics At Lake Caldwell Huntington Garden Club picnicked Sunday at Lake Caldwell. -six members and guests; were present. Election of officers was conducted. The new corps includes: Mrs.

Norman Pfeiffer, vice president; Mrs. Ray Streitenberger, secretary; Mrs. Robert Esker, treasurer; Mrs. Paul Pulliam, cheer chairman; and Mrs. Helen Bigler, news reporter.

Mrs. Bigler had charge of the meeting. Mrs. Harvey Darst, yearbook chairman, appointed the committees. It was noted the program chairman for the month will serve as president for that month.

During the social hour, members told stories of bygone days. Pleasant Valley WSCS Has Monthly Meeting Monthly meeting of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of Pleasant Valley Community Methodist. Church was held Thursday evening at the church. The business session was conducted by Mrs. Ersie England.
