10 Spectrum Thursday, July 16, 1987 2 Pine View Middle School SALT Two Pine teachers study Constitution View Middle School teachers recently completed a two-week Utah training on seminar at the University of the Constitution, the political process and citizen responsibility under the American system, a spokesman said. Jacobsen, history teacher, and Blake B. Pickett, a world geography and civilization teacher, were two of some 30 educaters selected from the intermountain, area for to attend Two-Party the Government, funded by nonprofit organization based in New York City. The Hinkley Institute of Politics coordinated the seminar. Among more than 80 politicians, bureaucrats and political campaign experts addressing the teachers were Utah Sen.

"We were exposed many different views of politics," said Pickett. "The speakers are impressive in dealing with the American a political system," he added. Jacobsen described the institute as outstanding, saying he would love to attend in the years to come. Participants were chosen based on interest, ability and the applicability of material studied to courses they teach. Shamos get leader training HURRICANE Darrin Shamo and Terrisa Shamo of Hurricane, recently completed the Rocky Mountain Region Cadet Leadership School held at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. This activity is sponsored by Civil Air Patrol and is designed to provide instruction and practical experience in public speaking, written communication and leadership technique. The instructors are faculty members of the USAFA, active duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve Officers and experienced members of the Civil Air Patrol. This year, members of Civil Air Patrol from 28 Wings (states) attended the Rocky Mountain Region Staff College, bringing a wide background of experience and ideas to the activity. The course is designed to improve the leadership techniques of all cadets in attendance.

Buoy will reign as the state Cinderella tot over the next year, and along with the three girls crowned in the Miss Mini Miss and Teen division will appear in parades and functions throughout Utah. Buoy was crowned Miss Personality, Miss Photogenic and Miss Cinderella in the tot division for Washington and Iron County prior to competing in the state pageant. She has been invited to attend the International Cinderella Pageant to be Aug. 1-8 in Miami, Fla.
