One of our young men went to Pott's Ktin, Clearfield county, last full, aud took a job of cutting shingle bolts. Now our bosses say we did not raise enough money, but here is a school house in the western part of the borough as good as when first built. It was built in the western part of the borough expressly to accommodate the citizens of the western part of the township whose children had to tramp through snow and mud one and a half to two miles to get to it, and if they could tramp that far, we, they can tramp one-half to three-fourths of a mile farther.

So we wiil sell that house, which was done, at private sale, contrary to the law for the sale of public buildings; and was also done without a single voice of approval from the west corner of the township. But now, sitice we are a borough, we congratulate ourselves on one point, viz: We have only about 300 rods of easy kept public roads that will not cost over 3 per cent, where before our taxes were from 10 to 12 per cent. Besides we have the new school, an honorto our borough. But if we could only get those adjoining farmers' big taxes in our boiough, we could have a month or so more school every season for our children. Well, what will we do? We are a borough and we will say to those farmers who built the house, "we want you to come in we want your taxes.
