POTTER COUNTY IN CLOVER. Let me lie down in the clover, Where the daisies scatter snow. And the yellow bees fly over As my fancies come and go. Dwellers in a royal palace Have not softer couch than mine: And lo' here's a lily chalice, Brimming with the morning's wine Yonder brook sings low and softly. But I cannot catch its words.

As they blend in silvery music With the notes of breeze and birds. In this sweet, still summer weather It is easy to forget That our life has toil or trouble; Has a cloud, a jar or fret Why should we try to remember? It is well to dream and rest, And forget that we grow weary. Though our dreams are dreams at best. Happy he who puts away Thoughts of daily life and strife. Who is deat to din and discord Jarring through the chords of life.

Let me lle thus in the clover, As a child on mother's breast. And, awhile the hours fly over. Dream sweet dreams of peace and rest. What Has Happened in June. Historically considered, June is for Great Britain perhaps the most famous month in the year.

It is the month of Bannockburn, Naseby and Waterlooall of them battles of liberation and for the extension and establishment of freedom. In other respects June figures handsomely in the calendar. It was in June that Magna Charta was sealed; and it is the birth month, among others, of Dr. Arnold, of Rugby; Charles Kingsley, W. H.

Smith, Lord Dufferin, Lord Wolseley and Mr. Spurgeon. June is generally also famous for its deaths, among them being those of Mohammed, Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet; White, of Shelbourne, and Garibaldi. It has been remarked that the also the fatal month of a certain percentage of distinguished men, and observe that Dr. Arnold died in June.

One of the most notable of modern June events is the coronation of Queen Victoria, which took place in 1838, just about fifty-one years ago. But undoubtedly the two big events of June are Waterloo and Bannockburn, the latter being to Spotchmen the greater of the two.Glasgow Herald. of Course He Was. "Well, well," said Master Turk, as he Loomed up in the repast, "It may be right, but seems to me I'm losing flesh $30 fast." The Tiger's Choice. The Bode records a singular adventure which recently befell a government surveyor in the wilds of Sumatra. After a hard day's work on a mountain side he passed the night in the open air in a hut hastily run up by his coolies. As he was falling asleep after long watching, 3, the sight of two fiery eyes glaring in at the entrance of the hut almost paralyzed him with terror. An enormous royal tiger soon glided in, smelled him all over, and then set to work devouring the remains of his evening meal to the last morsel.

Afterward his terrible guest disappeared. BUSINESS DIRECTORY. ATTORNEYS. F. B.
