That Fort Wayne has Its slums Just a New York City has Its east side and Ixindnn its lime house district, vas brought to light in the city court today, when Oliver Marsh was arraigned and sentenced to six montha on the county farm for neglecting his family.

Testimony revealed the ract mat Marsh, his wife and nine children have been living in a most distressing manner la a hay mow of a barn at the northern end of Sherman street They slept, cooked and ate what little the mother and her two oldest sons, aged 14 and IS, could provide, all In the Bane room, P. Sharp, humane officer, told the court. Mrs. Marsh testified that her Hus band bad given her only fl in the last seven weeks, and the support of her family depended principally on her two boys and what she could raise In a garden. After 17 years of existence with Marsh, the mother told Judas Mungovan that she and her huaband separated Sunday night, after he had struck her.

"Ten dollars and coats and six months on the' farm," ordered the court, after the evidence bad been heard. "I didn't ret a fair chance," Marsh squealed. "Any mart who strikes his wife doesn't deserve a chance," spoke Judge Mungovan, as he reiterated the fine and sentence, The ages of Mra Marsh's children range from to If years. She is II year old. and her husband Is five years her senior.

Cleorgs D. Miller, aged 66 years, died at 10:46 o'clock Wednesday night at his home, 1021 Crescent avenue, after three years' illness from cancer of the liver. He was born In Muncle, moving to Columbus, and later coming to this city. He um manager of the Singer Sewing Machine company here for 21 years, and was with the Sewing Machine exchange, at 104 East Columbia street, for two years. McCoy, aged El years, residing at 420 Kckart street, died at the family residence, at o'clook, Wednesday afternoon, after being ill for three months. He was a lifelong resident of this city, and an employe of the S. F. Bowser Co. He was a member of the Security Benefit association and of the Machinists' union, and of the Emmanuel Baptist church.

Mrs. Anna Cook for the second time filed a dlvorco complaint against Luke Cook, 220s Curdes avenuo, today. The first time Luke raised a row, threatened to shoot himself If she did not return to him and finally convinced her that she should dismiss the complaint and give him another trial The trial lasted until Aug 23, when they again parted, this time for good.

He avers that he hns been forced to rent a car to take the place of the one wrecked and claims that Latker swerved Into his machines, Largo Iand Deal. The Strauss Brothers Land company bought the old Ferguson farm In Pleasant township Wednesday for $72,000, according to a deed filed with Recorder Frank Cunnlson. K. E.
