THURSDAY, JUNE 23, .1950 fUASAT gftJQVg RjVjjW, fUASANt. g.RQVg, jLltAH, TKUftSpAT t'VKR Conference Last Weekend Was Well Attended in Timp Stake The First General Session of Timpanogos Stake Quarterly Conference opened June 19 at 10 a.m. with President Boyd L. Fu-g- presiding and conducting. No general authority was present.

Opening hymn "I Need Thee Every Hour" was sung by the congregation and invocation was offered by Willis Banks. Special musical number was given by the Sixth Ward Choir, "Listen to the Lambs" conducted by Owen Bingham and accompanied by Judy West. First speaker was President Fugal, who stressed thebenefits ofclose adherence to the Gos-p- sl plan and the benefits derived therefrom. President Elvvood Allen talked of the missionary program and the influence it plays in the lives of man. Alex Stocker, a returned missionary made a report on his experiences andbone his testimony.

Alroy Gillman, released from the High Council, and as chairman of the Welfare Farm Committee paid tribute to his successor, Arnold Hooley. Other speakers were Donna Ash, who told of her experience in Japan; Elder Roy Fugal, who talked of the missionary work. Closing hymn by the Sixth ward choir was "Come, Come, Ye Saints." Benediction was pronounced by Patriarch David B. Thorne. Second general session opened at 2:30 with President Fugal presiding.

Opening- hymn was sung by the congregation, "How Firm a Foundation." Invocation was offered by Bishop Harvey Smith. A musioal number by the Man-ilo-ett- was "He Knows." Speakers were President Ert-man- Christensen, Elder Stephen Warnick, Paul Christofferson, Hal Haycock, and Harold R. Penrod. Others called on for testimonies were a new Seminary teacher, Marvin Higbee, Rosalie Jack-lln- Walter Bowen, and Mrs. Aaron Card and the session closed with the Manilo-etes- singing "Praise Ye the Lord." Benediction was pronounced by Wallace Saling.

Releases granted and new members sustained were as follows: Sustained as High Priests, Robert Patch; as Elders, Ernest Cavalier Morton, Kent Dean Carlson, Lee Ward Carlson. Released as high councilmen, Stephen Warnick, Alroy Gillman and Paul Christofferson. Released as alternate and sustained as high councilmen, Alma Walser, Carl Butler, Harold R. Penrod. Sustained as alternate high councilmen, Arnold Hooley, Hal Haycock and RobertPatch.

Released as counselor in the YMMIA Elliot Howe and sustained to replace him, Glade Hilton. Released as stake music committee, Irwin Jensen, conductor, and Hal Haycock, organist. Sustained to fill these positions were William Anderson, conductor and Irwin Jensen, organist. MilsSUl' Shooters, M. K.

Mit- Choil, Salt Lake City; Experts, Richard Lavin, Provo; Sharp shooters, Theron D. Watts, Og-de- High aggregate, Taul Anderson, Trovo; Marksmen, Axlo Crittenden, Heber; and the Ogde-- Police Dept. won the team shooting event. Phares Andrus of Salt Lake City was advanced to President of the organization and Alene Evans, Provo, was named president of the Auxiliary. Jody Harris Wins Pistol Soot in Price on Weekend Mrs.

Jody Harris of Indon won the "high aggregate" award in the ladies pistol shoot last Friday and Saturday at the 38 Lh annual Utah Peace Officers convention at Price, Utah. Her prize was a "Sport King" revolver. Other first place winners in the 'Women's shooting contests were as follows: Shooting- experts, Jody Harris; Sharpshooters, Betty Van Wag. enen, Park City; Women's mark-manshi- JoAnn Warr, Heber; Women's Free for all, Jody Harris. Mrs.

Miss Sandra Cullimore left" Salt Lake City Saturday evening on a United Airlines Mainliner to attend the American Society of Medical Technologists National convention at Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The convention will be held at the Ambassador Hotel June 19 through 24. Sandra is senior technician in the blood bank at the LDS Hospital and is one of two delegates selected to represent the Utah Chapter of the Society at the National convention. Warren Andersons Will Move to Fort Collins, Colo. Mr. and Mrs.

Warren Anderson and children will leave Sunday or Monday to make their home in Fort Collins, Colorado. Mr. Anderson has accepted a fellowship at Colorado State University in his major field of agronomy. Since his graduation from the BYU, he has been working toward his Master's degree, which he hopes to secure at Colorado State. Future plans also include a Doctorate degree from the same institution.

Warren is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Anderson of this city. In March 1953 he married the former' Marjean Gunderson of Spanish Fork and they have four children..
