Huff was to the Book Review club Thursday morning at her home at Fort Ringgold when Mrs. Ira O'Meara gave an interesting review of the Literary Guild book "American Dream." Refreshments were later served to the three guests present, Mrs. M. B. Dunning, Mrs.

E. Hodgson, and Mrs. F. W. Drury all of Fort Ringgold, and to the members, Mrs.

L. R. Brooks, Mrs. Florence J. Scott, Mrs.

C. J. Martin, A. Stalmach, Mrs. C.

J. Martin, and Misses Shirley and Robin Brooks. Mr. and Mrs. F.

G. Chatfield have returned from a month's vacation trip enjoying short visits with her mother, Mrs. W. O. Deeson in Kingsville, and her brother, H.

B. Holloway, in Corpus Christi, before going on to Victoria, San Antonio, and Artesia, New Mexico, spending 8 week in the latter place with Mr. and Mrs. T. A.

Hornaday, formerly residents of this city. They made several side crips to Roswell, Ruidoso, and Carlsbad Caverns, and returned home by the river road. David Sanderson of St. Louis, field representative of the American National Red Cross, was here Monday and Tuesday conferring with Mrs. L.

R. Brooks, chairman of the Starr County Chapter, and the executive board, Mrs. C. Solis and Mrs. Martin Cavazos.

Mrs. Y. Garcia and son, Tino, of Brownsville and Mr. and Mrs. McAllen of the McAllen Ranch were visitors here Wednesday.

On their departure, Mrs. Garcia was accompanied by Miss Emma Solis who will be the guest of Mrs. Maria Young on her ranch near Raymondville for and extended visit. Herndon Scott of Refugio was the guest of his mother, Mrs. Florence Scott, from Wednesday until Friday.

Roses Give Charm To Bridge Rooms WESLACO-Mrs. Raymond Clifford was hostess for a delightful bridge courtesy at her home Friday afternoon. Tables were placed on the porch, where players enjoyed the games. Bouquets of pink rosebuds were artistically ararnged adcharm to the environment. Mrs.

George Harren received score prize, and Miss Frankie Thompson was a guest of the club. Ice cream and cake was served late in the afternoon to Mesdames Larry Heid, Harren, Fred Pepper, Ted Snead, Clifford Scott, and Schuepach of Harlingen. Birthday Surprise Is Weslaco Event WESLACO-Mrs. L. F.

Milliken honored her son, Ralph with a birthday surprise Saturday. A group of friends attended the theatre and then were entertained with croquet at the Milliken home on Illinois street. angel food birthday cake with eleven candles, in white was served with ice cream. Houston Visitor Named Honoree EDINBURG-Miss Marilyn McAskill honored Miss Julie Ann Cadau of Houston with a luncheon followed by bridge Wednesday.

A nominating committee was appointed consisting of Mrs. A. J. Chaney meeting and was Mrs. H.

W. Club Slated Monday HARLINGEN- pot-luck supper will be served at the meeting of the Harlingen B. P. W. club to be held Monday evening at the ranch home of Miss Jackie Ferguson near the Combes Highway.

Members will take covered dish items for the co-operative supper. An informal program will be presented. Mrs. Dan Coate Bridge Hostess WESLACO-Mrs. Dan Coate was hostess to bridge, Friday at her home.

Worthwhile Club Meets In Weslaco WESLACO-Mrs. Ernest Coy was hostess to the members of the Worth While club, Thursday at her home. The rooms were decorated with various bright blossoms, and a pleasant social afternoon was enjoyed.

Mrs. A. W. Arnett, president, was in charge of the social duties, assisting the hostess. Twelve members attended the hospitality.

Leaguers Enjoy Picnic Outing EDINBURG-The members of the Epworth League of the First Methodist Church enjoyed a weiner roast at Krska's Lake Thursday night. M. Gilmore. Mrs. Davis, wife of assistant superintendent of schools in El Paso, is chairman of the blind commission of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs, and past president of the Woman's Auxiliary of the College of Mines, El Paso. She is also a member of the Young Woman's Auxiliary of the Woman's Clubs in El Paso and active in Red Cross and Community Chest projects.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hedges and family left Friday for a vacation trip to Gonzales. Mrs. Leon H.

Mainord. Pink Hues Noted For Bridge Event WESLACO-Mrs. E. B. Ballard charmingly entertained with bridge, Thursday at her home, honoring the Dos Mesas Bridge players.

Service League Has Joint Meet With Brownsville HARLINGEN- meeting of the Episcopal Young People's Service League of Brownsville and the newly organized Service League including members from Harlingen and La Feria was held Tuesday evening at the Madison Hotel. Baxter Holland, president of the Brownsville group, was speaker for the evening. He talked interestingly regarding the aims of the organization and outlined plans for state and national conventions. Fred Hartman of San Benito, left for their former home at Aledo, Illinois, where they will visit relatives and friends for five weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Barney Hackney have returned to Weslaco to make their home, having resided at Corpus Chriti. Mrs.

T. L. Bruton and children are visiting Mr. Bruton's sister, Mrs. Billy Cocke at Houston.

E. Draegar, who is ill at her home here, is reported to be improving. Robert Evans, Bennie Egly, Johnny Robinson and Earl Greenwood, will arrive Friday from San Antonio, where they have spent the past month in training at C. M. T.

C. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rogers, who have been living in Oklahoma for the past two years, have returned to Pharr to make their home. Mr.

Ferguson were hostesses to the members of the Southern Star Home Demonstration at the Tidwell home Tuesday. Bouquets of bougainvilla decorated the living room. The program included "Recreation" by Mrs. Lucy Bellar, and Mrs. Cora Marshall gave "Parliamentary Mrs.

John Purl, president will represent the Southern Star club at College Institute in August. A tempting refreshment plate and a cold drink was served by the hostesses.
