Young Beall was marked contrast to the hippies who demonStrate against the war in Vietnam. He was wounded Vietnam when he previously served there, but he went back to do his duty that cost him his life. We've never spoken before a better audience than that of the Deltona Lions Club and their ladies last week. We also say the same thing for a journalism fraternity at Stetson, where we spoke the same night prior to the Deltona appearance.

Some of the questions from the students and from the faculty memb ers present indicated they might 1 not be in accord with our newspaper policies, but they politely listened to our explanations. As we said, there are some stories we don't like to write, but it's our duty to keep the public informed on any thing of consequence. The Lions were on their good behavior that night because the ladies were there, they joked. Usually at a Lions' meeting there is some good-natured bantering and horseplay along with the serious business. The tailtwister breaks out a child's potty and members must throw in some cash for it seems everything they do or don't do, and the money goes for civic projects.

Ad. Pd. for By The N.S.B. Road Paving Committee North Orlando Has Busy Police Chief By Mary Ann Campbell radio. NORTH ORLANDO Since becoming North Orlando police chief February 5, Thomas Hennigan has been a busy man.

Consuming much of his time has been the establishing of a complete and up-to-date filing system for the police department. Previously, all police actions in the village were reported on complaint forms. Now, Hennigan reports, the department has offense reports, supplementary forms, traffic violation forms, death reports and new complaint forms which are card indexed for easy filing and reference. ALL THESE forms and reports are installed in a brand new filing cabinet, puchased by the council for $20, and installed in Hennigan's home, sometimes referred to as the North Orlando police station. Another addition the department has been a monitoring unit for VHF L-SJC Taking Applications LEESBURG Applica: tions are now being received by the admissions office of Sumter Junior College from those students who plan to attend L-SJC Fall Term which begins Aug.

Hennigan stated this monitoring unit "increases North Orlando's value as a law enforcement department and enables the village to be aware of crimes being committed in other towns." Hennigan has also startan auxiliary force of five men. He pointed out these auxiliary are "strictly volunteers," and uniforms purchase and all own supplies, use their own time for any training, and are "back up" men for the regular police.

DURING HIS short time in office, Hennigan feels he has accomplished much and is especially pleased with the cooperation received from other departments. He is also pleased with the village council, saying he feels council is aware of the growing crime problem in the state, and is doing "everything they can" to provide equipment and supplies. In his six weeks in office, Hennigan reports North Orlando has been involved in four felony suspect arrests and one death in addition to the usual traffic violations and patrols. He would like to see the residents comply with the dog ordinance better than they have been and would like to educate the people to the dangers of excessive speed on the village streets, because of the many preschoolers. All in all, Hennigan feels North Orlando is "a good town with good people," and is proud to be the town's police chief.
