First Street Bloomington, Indiana Age 62, died Sunday, May 24, 1998 at Bloomington Hospital. He was born May 29, 1935 in New York City, New York, the son of Leonard Ellison Arnaud and Martha L. (Lindemuth) Arnaud. He graduated from Groton School, Carleton College and the University of South Dakota (M.A.) before earning his Ph.D in Classics at Stanford University in 1967. He taught Classics and chaired the department of Classics at Lawrence University from 1964 to 1972.

From 1968 to 1970 he was Associate Director of the Salzburg Seminar in Salzburg; he returned to work at the Seminar's Boston office from 1977-80. From 1972- 77 he was Executive Director of the Thomas J. Watson Foundation with primary responsibility for administering its fellowship program. taught at The Fay School, Southborough, Massachusetts until earlier this year. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Bloomington, Indiana.

Mr. Arnaud is survived by his children: Martha Beasley Arnaud, San Francisco; Frances Ellison Arnaud, Brookline, Massachusetts; and Maxwell Charles Leonard Arnaud, New Orleans; and by his sister, Marie-Louise A. Smith, Bloomington; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 27, 1998 at 3 p.m.

Sylvester "Ves" Berghuis 560 Linda Court, Kaukauna Age 74, died Sunday morning, May 24, 1998, at his home. He was born July 26, 1923, in Combined Locks, son of the late John and Mary (Ebben) Berghuis. On February 20, 1943, he was united in marriage to Mary Squires, she preceded him in death on December 4, 1992. Sylvester was employed with Hietpas Motors and retired from the Kaukauna Fire Department. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna.

Humleker, Ill Peter Dahl Humleker, III of Menasha died after a brief, hard fought battle with colon cancer on Sunday May 24, 1998. He was born in Neenah on March 20, 1946 to Margaret Banta Humleker and the late Peter Dahl Humleker, Jr. He was raised in Fond du Lac.

He was a cum laude graduate of both Shattuck School in Faribault, Minnesota and Lawrence University, Appleton, where he was member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He received his juris doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta lAW Fraternity. He practiced law in Neenah since 1972. Although only 52 years old, Pete contributed more to his community than most people accomplish in the proverbial four score and ten. Pete always had a keen interest in those he believed to be forgotten or ignored by society, the physically, mentally and emotionally challenged.

He gave willingly and freely of his time and talent to various advocacy groups for those so challenged. Having a developmentally disabled sister, he was particularly aware of the difficulties families face in raising and caring for challenged children. Spurred by the often anonymous generosity of his late grandfather, George Banta, Jr. of Menasha, Pete used his talents to leave the Fox Cities a better place. He had a magic about him when with the disabled and he loved the summers he spent coaching the Association for the Retarded Citizens baseball team.

By example he left a legacy of tolerance, compassion, integrity, and understanding to many, in particular, his beloved daughters: Ellyn and Katie. His influence and beliefs live on. He became involved with Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin in 1976 and served by holding numerous offices and chairing various committees. At the time of his death he was Secrethe Board and chaired the Development Committee. He was honored to be elected to the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries International, serving on the executive committee and chairing various committees.

He was active with the Association for Retarded Citizens of Neenah serving through the years as a board member and advisor to the organization. He was priviledged to serve on the Board Community Foundation of the Fox Cities and at the time of his death he remained a member of their professional advisory committee. He chaired the Parents' Council at Wayland Academy, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and served a term on their Board of Trustees. He was currently on the Board of Directors of the Equitable Reserve Association, Neenah. He was a third generation of his family to belong to the First Presbyterian Church of Neenah.

He was proud that his daughters represent the sixth generation of the family to live on the Menasha side of Doty Island. He is survied by his wife, Cheryl; his mother, Margaret, Fond du Lac; his daughter, Ellyn and her husband, Douglas John Dziedzic, Roseville, Minnesota; daughter, Catherine, at home; two brothers: George Banta Humleker and his wife, Terry, St. Joseph, Missouri; William Overby Humleker and his wife, Jana, Flat Rock North Carolina; two sisters: Margaret Humleker, Ripon; Anne Heintz and her husband, Les, Great Falls, Virginia; two nephews and five nieces. He leaves behind many friends, including two young men who were Verona Alvina Madison Old Hwy 47, Black Creek Age 92, passed away at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home Sunday May 24, 1998 with her loving family around her. Verona born July 13, 1905 in Black Creek to the late Joseph and Bertha (Ganzel) Barth.

On September 29, 1926 she was united in marriage to Walter H. Madison. They farmed most their married lives in the town of Cicero, where they shared 55 years together, before his death on clude four children: MadiFebruary 3, 1981. She was born on January 31, 1928 in Neenah, Wisconsin; the daughter of the late Michael and Leola (Coenen) Martin. She was married on June 8, 1946 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Gustave Kempf. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, cooking and baking.
