Fifty animals, 38 bulls and 12 females, have been consigned to the sale, which is under the sponsorship of the Mid-Missouri Hereford Breeders association. The association is composed of Hereford breeders in -Cole, Callaway, Osage, Maries, Gasconade, Miller and Franklin counties. According to Heidlage a good bull is of paramount importance a dairy herd, although farmers often use bulls that are of a poorer quality than their cows. This does nothing to increase the value of beef produced on the farm, Heidlage says. Records kept by farmers in co-operation with the extensio service, Heidlage says, prov that calves produced from ti high quality bull will bring on the average $10 more per calf Heidlage says this proves tha farmers can afford to own the best bull possible.
