National Brillion Age 88, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 1996 at Franciscan Care Center in Appleton. He was born September 17, 1908 in Cato, son of the late William and and Al- ma (Katreh) Scharbarth. He married Leona Genske on June 18, 1930 at the Reformed, Church in Chilton. Bill owned the IGA Food Store in Brillion, sold Christmas trees for over 50 years, along with the Brillion tree stands and worked at the Brillion Iron Works until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Chruch in Brillion, the church council, the city council, was a member of the cemetery board for many years.

He was the valedictorian of his high school class in Valders. He enjoyed the outdoors and sports, especialy basketball. Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law: Ken and Shelby, Little Chute; Roland, Brillion; Allen, Spencer, six grandchildren: Don, Lisa, Jon, Vicki, Craig and Brian; five great-grandchildren: a brother and sister-in-law: Russel and Iva Scharbarth, La-hoya, California; a brother-in-law, Raymond Eichhorst, Flower Grove, Texas; a special friend, Sally Boettcher, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona on May 1 1, 1990; a son, Wilmer in 1941; and a grandson, Michael. Funeral services will be 1 1 a.m.

on Tuesday, November 12, 1996 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion with Rev. Ross Henzi officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m.

Douglas Street, Appleton Age 50, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 1996 at her residence. She was born on July 8, 1937 in Appleton, daughter of Rosella (Bradow) and the late Lee Wiggins.

On June 5, 1991 Patricia married Ronald Torbeck in Appleton. He survives. Further survivors include two daughters: Diedre (Chip) Lacasse and their children: Ian and Caitlian, Wisconsin Rapids; Shellie (Paul) McCormack and their children: Sarah and Rachel, Plymouth, Massachusetts; two brothers: Russ (Coleen) Wiggins, Kaukauna; Dan (Sheila) Wiggins, Atlanta, Georgia. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Other than her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melindie Casperson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 1996 at 7 p.m. at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until the time of service.

Thdr sports vehkJ went out control on th los By The Associated Press Two sports utility vehicles collided on an icy overpass near Tomahawk, resulting in the deaths of four Plover residents in one of the vehicles, authorities said. Edward Okray, 36; his son, Adam, 4 months; his daughter, Abigail, 10, and her friend, Laura Davies, 11, were killed in the accident Saturday afternoon on U.S. 51 at U.S. 8, the Lincoln County Sheriffs Department said. Okray's vehicle, which was pulling a small trailer, went out of control on the ice and slid sideways into the path of another sports utility vehicle, the department said.

Vlasta Bogen, 49, of Manitowish Waters, the driver of the other vehicle, was treated for injuries at a Tomahawk hospital and then released, officials said. The four were among 15 people who died in Wisconsin traffic accidents during the weekend. A 22-year-old Crandon man, Travis J. Queen, died Sunday night after his pickup truck left an icy stretch of State 52 in Marathon County, slid into Shawano County, entered a ditch, a struck a signpost and a tree, the Shawano County Sheriffs Department said. Snow showers were believed to have been a factor in two fatal crashes on Interstate 90-94 in Sauk County late Saturday.

Sharon Anderson, 40, of Kenosha was killed when her car slid out of control, collided with another auto and flipped over on I-90-94 at Wisconsin Dells just before 6 p.m. Saturday, the Wisconsin State Patrol said. About three miles from that accident scene, another crash shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday killed Scott Carson, 45, of Milwaukee, whose car went out of control, hit a median and flipped over, the State Patrol said. A 17-year-old Wisconsin Rapids girl, Dusty M.

Dupuis, died Saturday afternoon when her car skidded on icy pavement on a curve of Wisconsin 54 in the town of Port Edwards and collided with another auto, the Wood County Sheriffs Department said. Dawn. M. Ward, 25, of Rosendale was killed early Sunday when her vehicle left State 151 about nine miles south of Fond du Lac, went into a ditch, overturned three times and she was ejected, the Fond du Lac County Sheriffs Department said. The Waupaca County sheriffs office said Timothy Heiner, 21, of New London died early Saturday when his vehicle overturned end over end in a roadside ditch west of the city. A 29-year-old Kenosha man, Arthur Mansola, died Saturday in a pickup truck that Milwaukee County authorities said climbed a concrete dividing wall and crashed on an 1-94 ramp.

The crash closed some ramps at the Airport Spur to Mitchell International Airport for about two hours. Deborah R. Wilkins, 43, of Farmington, was killed Saturday in a one-vehicle accident at County Trunk and Wisconsin 35 in the town of Farmington, the Polk County Sheriffs Department said. The three victims of a two-vehicle crash on Wisconsin 33 near Addison at 4:45 p.m. Friday were identified by Washington County authorities as James R.

Mrazik, 55, his wife Karen G. Mrazik, 56, and Julie R. Becker, 22, all of West Bend. James Mrazik was driving one vehicle and Becker was driving the other vehicle. The weekend deaths put Wisconsin's 1996 traffic fatality toll at 624, compared with 641 at the same time last year.

Bruce was born April 14, 1923. He attended Yale University and was a member of All Saints Epsicopal Church, the American Assocation of Professors and the Modern Language Assocation. Bruce was a French professor at Lawrence University for 35 years until his retirement in 1988. He is survived by his wife, Mary; four daughters: Anne K. Cronmiiler and hr husband, Robert Rees, Minneapolis; Elizabeth S.

Cronmiiler, Ap-pleton; Margaret C. Phillips and her husband, David, South Carolina; Barbara S. Cronmiiler and her partner, Lisa Damon, Massachusetts; two sons: Thomas W. Cronmiiler, Minneapolis; James A. Cronmiiler and his wife, Debra, Appleton; and five grandchildren: Christopher, Peter, Katie, Mary Elizabeth and Isabel.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Bruce and Lilla Cronmiiler. Memorial services will be held at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St. on November 12, 1996 at 1 a.m. with Rev.

Hoyt L. Hickman officiating. The family will receive friends at tfie funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Culligan Franciscan Care Center Formerly of 1359 W. Prospect, age 98, died peacefully following a brief illness on Sunday, November 10, 1996.

She was born July 16, 1898 in Appleton. She married George Culligan and he preceded her in death. Ella was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and their Christian Mothers Society, Mission Club and Senior Citizen Group. She also volunteered in the parish office.

Ella was also a member of the VFW Womens Auxiliary. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Solie, Palo Alto, California; a daughter-in-law, Betty Culligan, Appleton; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, a daughter, Ha Mae Verhoeven; and a son-in-law, Al Solie; a grandson, Kim Solie. The funeral liturgy will be held Tuesday, November 12, 1996 at 11 aim. at ST.

She attended St. Augustine Grade School and graduated from Chilton High School 1941. On January 8, 1944 she was married to Anthony J. Nisler. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1982.

On October 18, 1985 she married Ernest R. Dyer Sr. Margaret worked for severl attorneys in Calumet County, served as Deputy Clerk of Courts for Calumet County for 18'i years, served on the Board of Directors of Calumet Memorial Hospital as Secreatry for 17Vi years. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Hoi-, ctein, a member of the Holy Rosary Christian Mothers Society and served as Secretary for the Holy Rotary Cemetery Association. Survivors include her husband, Ernest R.

Dyer, New Holstein; a son, Paul '(Sally) Nisler, Denver, Colorado; Ihree daughters: Mary (Paul) Wauwatosa; Anne (Richard) Stutz, Menomonee Falls; Lisa Dudzinske, Menomonee six step-children: Ernest R. "(Kathryn) Dyer New Hosltein; (Barry) Murphy, Appleton; Jane Thornton, Omaha, Nebraska; Dr, Sid L. (Shirley) Dyer, Green-ood, Indiana; Kathy (Dan) Burg, Mary (Russell) Lefeber, Uohnsburg, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and sisters. Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, November 13, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church New Holstein with the Rev. Patrick J. Lloyd S.C.J. officiating. Burial ill be in St.

Augustine Cemetery, Friends may call at the Ichurch on Wednesday from 4 p.m. I until the time of service. The Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. by the Christian Mothers Society. A memorial will be established in her name for the Calumet County Cancer and graduated from Kaukauna Normal School.

She taught at several rural schools in the area. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, where she was involved in the Altar Circle, Concordia and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She was also an honorary member of the Appleton Medical Center Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Geraldine Spaude, Seymour; nieces and nephews: Judy Spaude, Darlene (Martin) Van-Lishout, James (Joyce) Spaude, Mark (Barb) Spaude, Cindy Spaude and Chris (Vern) Guyette, great and great-great nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; an infant daughter, a brother, Earl Spaude; and a sister and brother-in-law: Lela and Walter Klahn. Funeral services will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour at 5 p.m. on Wednesday with the Rev. Steve Larson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 3 until the time of services. Muehl Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour is assisting the family. The family would like to thank the staff of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, the volunteers and a special friend, Kelly Sievert for all their special care and concern. Ida Noel Age 96, passed away November 10, 1996 at the Rennes Health Care Center. She was born May 9, 1900, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Moureau) Van Drisse.

On November 28, 1923 she was united in marriage to Gustave Noel. Following their marriage the couple lived in the Green Bay area where they owned and operated the Broadway Pharmacy in Green Bay until 1963. In 1986, Ida and Gustave moved to the Appleton area and resided here ever since. Gustave died in 1987. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Lou) Mueller, Menasha; three grandchildren: Susan (Jeff) Burton, Appleton; David (Lisa) Mueller, Manitowoc; Paul (Kristi) Mueller, Omaha, Nebraska; two great-grandchildren: Tyler and Ryan Burton; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, eight brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St.

with Father David Schmidt officiating. Entombment will be in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum in Green Bay. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established.

Renard "Wink-Age 87, a life long resident of Green Bay, died November 9, 1996. Wink was born January 8, 1909 to the now late Ernest and Carolyn (Mick-elson) Renard. He married the former Lucille Toonen in 1934 and was employed by Fort Howard Paper Company for 43 years. Wink was a past Police and Fire Commissioner of the city of Green Bay. Wink was an active Boy Scout leader and was honored with the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award available to a volunteer.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the beauty of nature. Wink is survived by his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law: Tom and Jea-nine, Minnetonka, Minnesota; John and Sherry, Kelly Lake, Sur-ing, Wisconsin; Jeff and Nicole, Neenah; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Kessler Neenah Age 92, died Saturday, November 9, 1996 at St. Paul Home, Kaukau-na. Her home was on Hewitt Street in Neenah until 1989 when she took up residence with her daughter, Donna on Western Avenue, Green Bay. She entered the nursing home in September, 1992. Mary was born on August 19, 1904 in Appleton, daughter of the late Wenzel and Magdalena (Klein) Langen-berg.

She attended St. Joseph School, Appleton and Appleton High School, graduating in 1923. She married Edward George Kessler on May 31, 1927 at St. Joseph Church, Appleton. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1977.

She was a charter member of St. There-se Parish, Appleton and belonged to the Christian Mother Society there. In 1943 when the family moved to Neenah, she became a member of St. Patrick Parish, Menasha and was a member of its Sanctuary Society. She, with her co-worker and friend, Martha Kersten, prepared the dinners for the St.

Patrick Festivals for many years. She was also a member of the Third Order Secular of St. Francis, St. Joseph Parish, Appleton. Mrs.

Kessler is survived by three daughters: Sister Donna Marie Kessler, Silver Lake College, Mani- towoc; Virginia (Willard) Bolwerk, Neenah; and Donna Kessler, Green Bay; four sons: Lawrence (Donna), John (Sally), both of Neenah; Robert (Nancy), New Brighton, Minnesota; and Thomas (Joyce), Turtle Lake; 17 grandchildren: Laurie Be-rendsen. Garland, Texas; Barbara Van Dinter, Neenah; Stephen Kessler, Wappingers Falls, New York; Jean Legge, Stormville, New York; Rosanne Taylor, Moscow Mills, Missouri; William Kessler, Uxbridge, Massachusetts; Thomas Kessler, Green Bay; Tanya Kessler, Minneapolis; Tony Kessler, Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Mary Volkman, Appleton; Patty Smith, Kaukauna; Martin Bolwerk, Neenah; Kristi Yates, Menominee, Michigan; Jane Kattau, Lake in the Hills, Illinois; Jon Bolwerk, Neenah; Annette and Laura Kessler, Turtle Lake; 27 great-grandchildren, nieces, neph-' ews, two brothers-in-law: Arthur (Ruth) Kessler, Neenah; Robert (Mary) Kessler, Kimberly; four sisters-in-law: Sister Marie Therese Kessler, Manitowoc; Sister Sponsa Kessler, Oconomowoc; Vera Lang-enberg, Fond du Lac; and Elsie Langenberg, Appleton; and many friends. Wednesday, November 13, 1996 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Menasha. Interment will be in Saint Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Friends may call at the Kessler Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.

Sylvia Maass Age 88 of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour, died early Monday morning, November 11, 1996 at the nursing home in Seymour.

She was born August 18, 1908 in the Town of Osborn, daughter of the late Fred and Emma (Beckman) Spaude. On October 9, 1935 she was united in marriage to Earl Maass; he preceded her in death June 26, 1969. Sylvia was a lifelong resident of the area Good Samaritans save man who fell into river LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) A Minnesota man was recovering in a hospital after surviving a 60-foot fall from a highway bridge to a river bank when two good Samaritans kept him from being washed away. According to authorities and witness accounts, Warren Stein-feldt, 32, of Winona, was being pulled into the rushing La Crosse River, but Todd Ferguson, 16, and Tim Lewis, 42, both of La Crosse, were able to reach him on the shore and hang on until paramedics arrived.

Steinfeldt was listed In serious condition in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center Sunday night. The incident started with a 14-vehicle accident on the bridge spanning the river and railroad tracks during a freezing snowfall about 7 p.m. Saturday. Police Officer Brian Olson said in his report that Steinfeldt stopped his vehicle when he saw the accident in the opposite lanes, tried to Jump a median rail to give assistance and fell between the divided sections of the bridge, landing on the north bank of the river.

Ferguson, a Logan High School junior who lists "Rescue 911" among his favorite television shows, said he saw the accident develop in his rear-view mirror. "Just as I got to him, he was slipping into the river," Ferguson said. "I grabbed him by the jacket, but held him so he wouldn't go any farther."
