The Kewpies won eight events 1 arid totalled 90 points, com- pafed to six events for Senior High and 75 points. Sedalia set record and scored 66; Hannibal trailed with 19. Senior High broke the fiv'e-year'old mark in two-mile relay by almost 12 seconds, burning art 8:02.5 and edging the favored Sedalia team', which had easily out-distanced the Jays in a dual meet the previous week. Tim.

''Rousset and Mike Shellmatt allowed Smith-Cot- ton'only-a five-yard lead after the 1 first two legs, setting up 1:57.6 and 1:58.4 runs by Bryce Allfnonand David Cooper. Allmon passed Steve Fischer on the last back stretch of his and Cooper out-kicked Sedalia's anchorman, opening the gap to about 10 yards at the tape. Cooper won the mile in 4:31.0, and came back 45 minutes later and set a new CMC record in the 880-yard run lat 1:58.6. Cooper, who passed runners the last lap, broke the record of Hannibal's Brian Walsh, set at 2:01.0 in 1970. Gerry Ellis broke the discus and shot put records, as well as winning the 100-yard dash for Hickman.

Ellis' 173 foot, seven and one-half inch throw bettered the old record by almost 18 feet, and was over 30 feet farther than the second place throw. John Sanders of broke the old 120-yard high hurdles record, running away from the field in 14.3. Dwight Butler of Sedalia set a new triple jump mark at slightly over four inches longer than the old one. Senior High got a pleasant surprise in the long jump, as Mike Johnson leaped his best ever and won with a 20-foot two-inch jump, beating out Hickman's Raymond White by one inch. Senior High got a gift in the 880-yard relay, winning after the Kewpies, five yards ahead, dropped the baton halfway through the race.

The Jays steadily pulled away in the mile relay for a 3:32.0 victory. Hickman relied on its strength in the sprints for most of its points. The Kewpies went 1-2 in the 100-yard dash and 120-yard high hurdles, and 1-3 in the 220-yard dash and 180 yard low hurdles. DISCUS 1. Gerry Ellis (CH); 2.

Rick Kimberling of Gilliam, the model champ, be hard-pressed to retain thje titje after the showing of several 1 drivers last week in Jefferson City's Losson Leonard and Eddie Gray, joined by Jerry "Flea" Atkin of Holts Summit, clearly outclassed the competition in the special on the Missouri State Fairgrounds oval. Leonard finished second in the 25-lap feature, Atkin ran third and Gray was in the number two spot before a spin put him against the outer guard rail late in the race. The hobby stackers will be running under a drastically changed set for rules. Gone is the claim a driver could post on another car, this year the hobby class will be restricted to cast iron exhaust and intake manifolds.

A IS-week program is currently slated for the Speed- way, opening for the seventh year. The track is located on Route 00 off Highway 54 north of Jefferson City. Utz, winner of the International Motor Contest Association sprint car title last year, will get plenty of competition from fellow drivers in the newly-formed Missouri Sprint Car Association. But missing from the fold this year is Marshall ace Roy Hibbard, who retired after last year's running. The MSPA-sanctioned sprinters will bring a field of cars that is expected to top the 20 mark for the opening night races.

Jim Jenkins of Slater, Gary Scott of Holts Summit, and Columbia racers Craig Tom Coleman and David Dwyer will be out to unseat the defending champion in the super-sprint class. Either Hibbard or Utz have captured the Capital Speedway crown since the the track opened. A 1975 Buick Free Spirit, the official pace car for the 59th annual running of the Indianapolis 500 mile race, supplied by McKay Buick will pace the field of cars during the evening events.
