the derrick three times Wednesday and once Thursday were confirmedfn telegrams received here late Thursday afternoon from persons on the ground The flow occurred according to the telegrams when the liner which had been sent down last Week preparatory to deeping the hole was pulled out Wednesday The drillers are now cleaning out the well for the purpose of replacing the liner with perforated pipe When the sand was drilled into though there was considerable oil there was not sufficient gas to force it out through the casing During the time the liner has been in the hole oil menpoint out there has been considerable accumulation of gas and it js probable that the pressure caused the well to flow Others believe that the first sand drilled into contained oil in paying quantities with sufficient gas pressure to make it flow but that this had been sealed off by letting the well stand too long The first report that oil had been struck and had gushed over the derrick was received here late Wednesday night but could not be confirmed and in well informed circles the report was received with reserve Early Thursday morning oil men got in touch with the town of Benavidesi near where the well is located and the report was confirmed Authentic news that the presence of gusher oil in Southwest Texas wildcat fields was indicated created the greatest exciterryent and oil men familiar with the territory are now predicting that a second Tampico will be found along the lower coast section Leases of land surrounding the discovery have been all withdrawn from the market according to reports
