Gus tav Simon when the defense opens its cate There are intimations that a plotJ the prisoner and that somebody will suffer severely when all the facts are brought to light The apparent indifference of both the defendant and her counsel to the States circumstantial case is taken to mean that the real story of the shooting Is yet to be told There wese no witnesses to the shooting and enough has Machine and Power Company admitted to day that he had embezzled 92000 of the companys funds by the Issuing and discounting of notes that were Issued up to the amount of 5000 each The confession was made in the presence of the directors of his company and of representatives of Estabrook Co of this city Mr Lincolns resignation from all these positions was demanded made and accepted He has also resigned the directorate of two Woonsocket banks Lincoln admitted the money was lost mainly through speculation He has turned over his handsome home on South Main street Woonsocket together with other property to the company but it Is believed that there will still be a shortage of about 60000 which the stockholders will have to bear pro rata Esta brook Co acting for a third party offered In February to purchase the stock of the power company for 15515 per share Lincolns peculations were discovered when the audit was made by Estabrook Cos accountants preparatory Ho the transfer of stock are still seven forged notes of 5000 each in local banks and other securities bearing the name of George Bachelder president of the company which Lincoln admits he forged The Fidelity and Deposit Company of Baltimore was on Lincolns bond for 100u0 Lincoln has not been arrested He was regarded as one of the wealthiest residents of Woonsocket President George Batchelder of the powfer company is a member of the State commission to the Jamestown Exposition and went to Jamestown yesterday He was notified to night of the shortage and immediately announced his intention of returning to Woonsocket the time fixed for Ross ynarriage to another woman were viewred by a coroners Jury to day After which they were Temoved from the undertaking rooms where they had been prepared for burial That of Miss Stroup was taken to the home of her sister Mrs jFred Ehret of Coal Hill this county Ross body was taken to the home of his parents Next door to his home is the house which he bad prepared for himself Demands of Nationalists Redmonds Followers Will Try to Amend Bill After Its Introduction to the House of Commons May 7 London April 25 Discussions are still going on between the government and John Redmond chairman of the Irish Parliamentary party in the House of Commons respectirg the Irish bill which will be introduced in the House May 7 Those participating have been reticent as to the provisions of the bill but it can be stated broadlv rfiat st iiiho an Irish council partly elective and part MRhn ly nominative wnlch shall administer the domestic affairs of Ireland exclusive of the army and navy but will have little or no legislative powers This is far from what the Nationalists desire and in the discussions Mr Redmond strove for a greater measure of home rule and will carry the flght Into the House of Commons without however declining to accept what Is offered as a sop to the Nationalists who have obtained many advantages from participation In all the entertainments to the colonial premiers even that given by the riletnbers of the House of Commons They are arranging a dinner for the premiers on May 6 the eve of the introduction of the Irish bill This will be made the 25 According to the testimony of many State officials before the capltol Investigating commission to day the new capltol was furnished by the board of public grounds and buildings with millions of
