I or kock creek Park three additional mounted and six unmounted policemen will be assigned to the Tenth police precinct which patrols that neighborhood This Increase was made known In a report of Maj Sylvester chief of police to Commissioner West Saturday Where these additional policemen will be taken from has not yet been deter mined by Maj Sylvester but he is satisfied that the change will not necessarily weaken his force in other sections of the city Condition Is Serious Numerous appeals have been received from citizens in the northern section of the city for better police protection Wilson of 1825 Twenty fourth street northwest recently wrote letters to Maj Syl ester and Congressman Wiley of New Jersey a member of the District Committee In Mr Wilsons letter to the latter he depicts the condition of crime In his neighborhood as something darker and more serious than prevailing conditions in the slums of New York or the highways of Chicago There has been a regular saturnalia of crime states Mr Wilson In my neighborhood recently which would put een Chicago to shame There are a lot of people hereabouts in one of the best residential sections of the city who are now afraid to send their children out without an escort Our women also dare not go on the streets alone Our servants are quitting because they fear to leave the houses at night Street Lamps Needed Mr Wilson then cites a number of cases which have been responsible for the present alarm He concludes by stating that he asked the Commissioners some months ago to have a street lamp placed on Twenty fourth street near Bancroft place It Is so dark In front of my residence he asserts that our friends fear to ap proach it at night No response has yet been received to my application from the Board of Commissioners although the police recognize the necessity of the compliance Congressman Wiley wrote a letter to the Commissioners and Inclosed the appeal from Mr Wilson He said he thought better protection should be afforded that neighborhood and that if legislation is needed for a more adequate force he will gladly co operate with the Commissioners in such a movement Behning Pianos Are eminently satisfying to musicians and to all persons of keen judgment who value the better and still better who can appreciate that almost indefinable something which makes a piano dear to the cultured ear who can feel as well as hear and see the superior quality in a piano THE BEHNING PIANO is satisfying to these because it excels in Tone A sweet singing crisp quality well balanced from treble to bass and of such sparkling character as stamps it at once1 the product of a factory where musicianly skill is combined with the practical Is light and elastic repeating with remarkable accuracy A pianist will understand us when we say the touch of a BEHNING piano feels right Touch Finish Is a costly feature in pianos It calls for many coats of varnish of the best grades and the surface must be treated with infinite care The Behning pianos are finished with the same scrupulous care that is shown throughout the piano An artistic design of case is a promise of re finement and the designs of the Behning are in each instrument as refined and chaste as could be imagined or desired We are proud to handle them and we want everybody to know it Design FOUGHT FOR LOST CAUSE FULL
