Put another way: Planets are discovered; dimensions are named. As soon as everyone can agree on what the fourth dimension should be and we have the means to measure it it will exist for us.

Is there a well so deep that a pebble will never touch the bottom? Ann Brown, Harrah, Okla. I don't think so. As part of its definition, a well has a bottom, and that means it has an end. If it has an end, it is not infinite, and a pebble will eventually reach it, disregarding other factors such as gravity, etc. On the other hand, if we add a few earthly considerations, our well shrinks even more and can't be much deeper than the approximate digging distance from New York directly through the center of the earth, ending up somewhere in the Indian Ocean.
