DOCTORS ENTERTAIN NURSES Musicale in Rust HalL Sibley Memorial Hospital Followed by Candy pulling A musical and Christmas entertainment was given the nurses of Sibley Memorial Hospital In Rust Hall last night by the resident and attending physicians of the hospital An orchestra rendered a pleasing programme during the evening The entire end of one side of the hall had been ingeniously decorated and represented a Christmas snow scene in a mountain valley with a church standing in the center its windows throwing out a cheery light and a full moon breaking through the clouds and casting its rays upon the snow laden branches of the trees After the concert an old fashioned candy pulling was enjoyed About fifty nurses representing all those who could get oft duty at one time were present while over half that number of physicians acted as hosts RICHARD YOUNG IS DEAD TREES OF THE SIERRAS Retired Merchant Native of Maryland Victim of Paralysis Richard Young the brother in law of the late President Hurt of the old Washington and Georgetown Railway Company died yesterday morning at his home 3029 street northwest of paralysis He had been ill but two weeks Mr Young was a native of Montgomery County Maryland In 1S63 he came to this city and settled In Georgetown He was at one time a merchant but retired some years ago from active business He is survived by a wife and two children The widow was formerly Miss Mollie Young of Boyds Md Mr Young was sixty nine years old Prof Plummer of Forestry Department Lectures Before Missouri Society Forests of the West was the subject of a lecture by Prof Fred Plummer as Ssted with lantern slides by Qulncy Craft both of whom are of the Forestry Department before the Missouri Society which met last night In Pythian Temple Prof Plummer with the aid of the Illustrations took his audience to the snow lines of the lofty Sierras and told of the different trees which grew on the slopes The lecture extended from the tamarack and fur of the high altitudes to the cultivated poplars of the plains The methods of the Western lumbermen were exposed and the slides pictured valuable trees which had been ruined beyond use by extravagant and careless falling of forest giants Besides the lecture several pleasing numbers were rendered by the mandolin club composed of Miss Roselie Dalrymple Miss Josephine Dill Osgood Holmes
