LOCAL Saturday, November 12, 2005 Advocate Deaths and funerals Paul O. Turner Nov. 1, 1940 Nov. 10, 2005 funeral service for Paul O. Turner, 65, of Marne, will be held at 10 a.m.

Monday at Marne United Methodist Church with Pastor Gus Cristo-Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Paul passed away Nov. 10, 2005, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center. He was born Nov.

1, 1940, in Onego, W.Va., to the late Omer and Eva (Vance) Turner. He was a member of the Marne United Methodist Church. Over the years, Paul enjoyed to fish, hunt, boating, watching car races, yearly trips to Las Vegas, hunting mushrooms, cruises, re-built salvage cars, piloting small planes and help re-build Marne United Methodist Church. Paul received a heart transplant in 1998 then early this year he diagnosed with cancer. He was in the Cleveland Clinic most of the time this summer.

He was then at the James Cancer Center. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda J. (Burkholder) Turner, whom he married on June 16, 1961. Together they have one son, Rod Turner; one granddaughter, Bobbi Turner, and grandson, Brian Turner, all from the Licking Valley area, grandsons, Brandon Turner, of Heath, and Jackson Turner, of Greenville, Ohio. Also survived by three sisters, Grace "Beth" (William) Fish, Marie (John) Goodwin and Eva Jean Jones, all of Heath; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Turner and Charles Turner. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Newark.

(Lowery) Lee, 58, of Johnstown, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Johnstown, with the Rev. David Sedziol officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown.

Mrs. Lee died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at her residence. She was born Sept. 9, 1947, in McArthur, Ohio.

She retired after 25 years with Tech International, Johnstown. She is survived by one son, John (Peggy) Bell, of Johnstown; one granddaughter, Linzie Bell; mother, Florence M. Lowery, of Coshocton; one sister, Mary (Dwight) Burris, of Newark; three brothers, John (Norma) Lowery Johnstown, Melvin (Martha) Lowery, of Newark, Sammy (Connie) Lowery, of Coshocton; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Samuel Lowery. Family will receive friends 2 to 5 p.m.

Ralph J. Vansickle March 23, 1933 Nov. 11, 2005 Funeral services for Ralph J. Vansickle, 72, of Adamsville, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Adamsville chapel of VensilOrr and Chute Funeral Home with the Rev.

Ricci Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Church Cemetery, Adamsville. Mr. Vansickle died unexpectedly Friday morning, Nov. 11, 2005, at his home.

He was born March 23, 1933, in Coshocton County, a son of the late John W. and Sylvia (Morton) Vansickle. He had worked at St. Regis Paper Mill in Coshocton and had attended the Dresden United Methodist Church. Mr.

Vansickle was a life long farmer and owner of the Dresden IGA. Surviving are his wife, Frances J. (Weekly) Vansickle, whom he married Jan. 31, 1952; children, Nancy Sowers, of Zanesville, Mary (Ken) Martin, of Dresden, Karen (Randy) Embrey of Crooksville, John (Julia) Vansickle, of Adamsville, Bruce (Connie) Vansickle, of Adamsville and Randy (Becky) Vansickle, of Dresden; brothers, Ross Vansickle, of Zanesville, Rollen (Norma) Vansickle, of Nashport, Paul (Kate) Vansickle, of Texas; sister, Ada (August) Roberts, of Texas; sister-in-law, Arlene Vansickle, of Nashport; grandchildren, Jody Sowers, Jessica Sowers, Jason Embrey, Jenny (Mike) Embrey Taylor, Brian (Susan) Martin, Lori Martin, Adam Martin, Jeremy Martin, Justin (Alyson) Vansickle, Jim Vansickle, Kimberly Vansickle, Steve Vansickle, Stacey Vansickle and Valerie Vansickle; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Vansickle. Monday at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Wilson Cemetery in Newark. Rieck died on Thursday Nov.

10, 2005, at Saint Ann's Hospital. She was born and raised in Newark. She was a computer engineer for EDS and Delphi Systems in Warren, Ohio until 1987 and an elementary school teacher in Zanesville for four years. Rieck is a graduate of Summa Cum 1983, with Youngstown Staide University, a bachelor's in computer technology. She is a 1974 graduate of The Ohio State University, with a bachelor's in elementary education.

She was an avid tennis player and member of the New Albany Country Club and Wickertree Tennis and Fitness Club. Rieck was a member of the New Albany Presbyterian Church. Rieck was preceded in death by her mother, Eileen (Victor) Snyder. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Kim A. Rieck; daughters, Rebecca and Leslie Rieck, of New Albany; father, Carl Snyder, of Newark; sister, Katherine Snyder, of Newark; brothers, Terrence Snyder, of Newark, Michael Snyder, of Ankeny, Iowa, Patrick Snyder, of Houston, Richard Snyder, of Westerville, Jay Snyder, of St.

Cloud, -laws, Howard C. and Opal M. Rieck, of Youngstown; and many nieces and nephews. She passed away on Nov. 11, 2005, at Autumn Health Care in Newark. Prior to retirement, she was a dorm receptionist at Denison University. She had also worked for the Children's Home for nine years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, DanvilleHoward Chapter; former member of Newark Eagles Lodge 387; and she attended the Newark First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Spring-Houk, of Newark; three sons, Louis Edward Gillespie, of San Diego; Wade Wesley (Jill) Gillespie, of Newark, and Gary Lee Simmons, of Granville; son-inlaw, Shelton "Butch" Burchard; 11 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Tina Burchard; one grandson, Jason Spring; two brothers and three sisters. Kenneth G. 'Kenny' Duke June 1, 1915-Nov. 9, 2005 A funeral service for Kenneth G. "Kenny" Duke, 90, of Alexandria, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N.

Main Johnstown, with Pastor Mark Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Alexandria. Kenny died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at Northview Senior Living Center. He was born June 1, 1915, in Newark, to the late Clyde E.

and Martha (Westbrook) Duke. Kenny retired from the Licking County Highway Department. Prior to that he was employed for 28 years at the Alexandria Sand and Gravel Company. Kenny was a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II serving from 1942-1945 in the China Burma India theater. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1950-1951 during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Ohio Auxiliary Patrol and a 57 year member of the American Legion Post 254. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty (Rose) Duke; daughters, Gail Roberts, Carol (Lenny) Stoneburner, Jackie (Mike) Ferguson and Annette Duke; grandchildren, James and Matthew, Wendy and Elaine, Jennifer and Jake; two greatgranddaughters, Emily and Sadie; brothers, Miller Duke and Jack Duke; sister, Alice Bernsdorf; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia Moore and Mary Duke; brother, Lester Duke; and son-in-law, Richard Roberts. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

McCreary 'Ken Mack' May 14, 1930-Nov. 2, 2005 Kenneth V. McCreary, 75, died Nov. 2, 2005, at his home in Prairie Grove, Ill. He was born May 14, 1930, in Newark, to Lorenzo and Pearl (Frush) McCreary.

In 1952, he graduated from Miami University of Ohio and went on to a career in broadcasting at WTVN in Columbus. In 1965, he became the Executive Secretary of Ducks Unlimited and served as Secretary Emeritus. After retirement, he continued to arrange corporate meetings through his homebased firm, McCreary Consulting. He was active in civic affairs in Prairie Grove, serving eight years as Village President and dedicated several years to the McHenry County Conservation District, serving as a board trustee and as a cofounder and trustee of the MCCD Foundation. Kenneth was an active member of the Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church, serving as church elder and deacon.

He was highly involved in the regional Presbytery's activities, including Camp Stronghold. was an avid outdoorsman and a loving husband, father and friend. He is survived by his wife, Barbara McCreary; a son, David McCreary, of Phoenix; a daughter, Tina (John) Nystrom, of McHenry; a granddaughter, Sharon Nystrom, of McHenry; a brother, James (Charlene) McCreary, of Newark; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and an uncle and aunt, William and Thelma Bratton, of Newark. A funeral service for James H.

Smith, 68, of Norfield Road, Zanesville, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Adamsville Chapel of Vensil-Orr Chute Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery. James died at 10:20 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at his home following a 16-month battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 2, 1937, in Zanesville, a son of the late Cecil and Lavera (Dalton) Smith. James had been a chef at the Old Market House Inn and had been a baker at the Longaberger Homestead.

He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Helen L. (Hittle) Smith, whom he married June 17, 1967; sons, Rick Smith, Perry Smith, James (Amy) Smith and Jimmy (Jannett) Strickler, all of Zanesville; daughters, Jamie (Tim) Mathie, of Newark, Rhonda (Doug) West, Zanesville, and Pam Clark, of Zanesville; brothers, Sheldon Smith and Ronald Smith, both of Zanesville; sister, Dorla Brown, of Zanesville; grandchildren, Deidra and Shiloh West, Brittany Smith, Kaila Smith, Madison and Faith Dressler, Ashley Balliett, Eric and Wesley Clark, Jerrod and Jenna Strickler, Erin, Charlie, LaTawnya Brown, Cayla and Chase Mathie, Perry Smith II and LaToshia Smith, and Jason McNutt; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Charlee Husk. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Smith; grandchildren, Joshua West and Jezemiah Smith; brothers, William, Arthur and Raymond Smith; and sisters, Sandra Smith and Leota Morgan.
