LITTLE ROCK, OTJR SPECIALTIES. Some natural, born artist who has considerable ingenuity, has painted a mammoth picture on a sheet of white muslin and has tacked it no on th corner of Johnson and Maddox streets. The subject of the sketch is the Salt River steamer. The steamer is lying at the wharf receiving its human freight composed of defeated candi dates. The McDonald band is near by, situated on a tower and is render ing (as it seems) sweet strains of mu-fctc from the excellent selection.

"Good Bye Van," while the black clouds of smoke pour forth from the smoke stack and the white steam escapes into the balmy air. Col. McMillan is captain and as he stands with his right arm entended at an elevation of 45 degrees, (hat in hand ana sleeves rolled up) shouts: ''have your tickets ready boys Strong is pilot: Pavne is mate: Biesrs is deck hand, and Fortson is the flun ky, while Nash, Harley McGill, Lee, Meador, Fulton, Allen and other defeated candidates are passengers. Meador is mounted on the tip top of the flag staff where a flag flutters in the breeze with the words written thereon: Boys, I had to go Allen has climbed about half way up the flag staff and seems to be making lively progress to gain a place alongside of Meador. Fairbairn is being carried on board by four pall bearers in a black box, while Nash is seated on the boiler deck with tablet and pencil in hand.

Alongside of him is scribbled his favorite expression: "Don't you understand?" There is an original package saloon on board the steamer aud from the looks of things that are transpiring on the rear end of the boat, some ot the passengers must have been imbibing too freely in the fiery fluid, for Payne, with a wheelbarrow has damp-de Lee overboard and is doing likewise with McGill. Anderson, who seems to be taking things easy, is seated the stern of the boat, armed with a pole and line, fishing for Lee who is struggling in the depths below. Sam Fulton is just boarding the steamer with-a hog slung across his shoulder and near by, in large, black letters is written: "Fuiton will eat." There is a ''cooler on board, with nice iron bars in the rear. We suppose the iron bars is to keep the passengers out as none is seen behind them. The present outlook for a pleasant and enjoyable trip on board this elegant steamer is rather discouraging.

It may turn out better. We hope it will. nappy Hosiers. Win. Timnions, postmaster at Ida-ville, Ind-, writes: Electric Bitters has done more for me than all other medicines combined, for that bad feeding arising from Kidney and Liver trouble." lohn Leslie, farmer and xtockman, of same says: "Find Electric Bitters to be the best kidney and liver medicine, made me feel like a new man." J.

W. Gardner, bard-ware merchant, same town, says: Electric Bitters is jnst the thine for a man who is all run down and don't care whether he lives or dies; he found new strength, good health and feit just like he had a new lease on life." Only 50c. a bottle, at E. M. Hall's drug store.

Alden's Manifold Cyclopedia. The apaearance of the twentieth vol-nnin of the Manifold Cyclopedia is of interest not only on account of the great value of its contents, but also because it marks the completion of the first half of its important work. These twenty volumns make a goodly library, they are wondeVfnlly comprehensive, clear in their treatment of topics, and are iu a remarkable convenient form for use. The complete work of forty vdlumns will be simply invaluable. The range of the present volumn is from Infant to Joppa.

Among the large number of topics worthy of mention we notice infant, in-law; Inflama-tion; influenza; infuroria; insects; insurance, 15 pages; interest, including two valuable tables of interest laws of the various states; international law; interoceanic ship canal, over 4 pages; inreroceauic ship railway; interstate traffic on railroads; inundations; iron, over twenty pages; jacquard loom; jews, over 31 pages; Iowa has 8 pages; and there is an interesting sketch of including the terrible disaster of 1.S89. which is a good illustration of how close to date a cyclopedia can be and needs to be brought. Among the foreign nations fully treated are Ireland, ltily, Japan, Java, also the city ot JeriiBalnm. Biographies of many noted men appear; among them three noted presidents of the United States Andrew Jackson, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Johnson. The extremely low price places within easy reach of the reading public this cyclopedia, which of all works of the kind is much the best adapted to their need.

RUDISILL, Arkadelphia, Ark. 3lculcIo. jlzce. DON'T F0R6ET THE OLD STAND Base Ball. Laet Friday afternoon, the "Kid" nine of Malvern, crossed bats with the Arkadelphia Kids." The game was very interesting for the first two innings and was well marked with hard hitting by the Arkadelphia Kids and by very little by the Kids of Malvern.

The Arkadelphia Kids had it all their own way after the second inning and it was to be seen that victory was at hand and theirs. Johnson and McMillan was the homo Kids battery. They done elegant work, espi cially Johnsqn who done some great twirling which the Malvern kids never got onto. Jnst how he succeeded in striking them out so easy, seemed a mystery to them. one after another, stood up and fanned wind in a most becoming manner and then went to the field like little men as if they were always in the habit of so doing.

Williamson made a great play when he lined out a three-bagger and brought two men home who were running. Others done heavy batting as two -baggers were frequently made by our boys. The Malvern Kids can't play ball with our Kids, that is certain. Some of the Malvern boys stopped over a few days with us and our boys have entertained them right royally. The others left on the evening train for their homes.

We wish to see the Kids cross bats again soon, but hope that the Malvern Kids will give them a good hard tussle. The result of the game is as follows: Arkadelphia 2 6 0 3 2 4 1733 Malvern 2 4 0 0 0 0 06 E. M. Hall, the druggist, wishes to remind his patrons that it is a dangerous policy to wait until taken sick before buying a bottle of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. J. A. ROSS, President. The leading question now is: "Are you provided with a bottle of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Dirrohcea Remedy, as safe guard against an attack of bowel complaint during the summer months?" No family can afford to risk being without this invaluable medicine during the hot weather. It is certain to be needed, and is a friend indeed when required, as it never fails and is pleasant and safe to take.
