1, Box 387, died on Thursday (May 21, 1998) at his residence. He was born on March 8, 1917, at Kentucky, a son of William Houston and Lelia (Whitesell) Coyner. He was employed by the Waynesboro DuPont plant from 1938 until his retirement in 1979, was a Navy veteran and a membner of Stuarts Draft VFW Post 9339. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy M. Coyner, on March 15, 1997, and three brothers, Gilbert, Willis and Melvin Coyner.

Surviving are a son, Richard C. Coyner of Stuarts Draft; two daughters, Betty Matchett of Staunton and Nancy Beyeler of Stuarts Draft; four brothers, Willard, Calvin, Russell and Leonard Coyner; three sisters, Netta Mae Holton, Gladys Crosby and Ellen Hartmen; eight grandchildren, Tamara Howard, Mary Pile, Jeffrey Bradley, David Mattchett, Richard D. Iscie Lee Mullenax, 96, of Circleville, died on Friday (May 22, 1998) at Grant Memorial Hospital. She was born at East Dry Run on Dec. 4, 1901, a daughter of Clay and Effie Mae (Fox) Simmons. Her husband, J.H. Mullenax, died on July 3, 1955.

She attended Pendleton County schools and Shepard College and was a member of Circleville United Methodist Church and Circleville Home Demonstration Club. She taught school for a number of years. Surviving are two daughters, Genevieve Thompson of Stuarts Draft, and Arlene RodriguezBerriz of Oakland, Calif; two sons, Paul and Garland Mullenax, both of Circleville; five grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Mildred G. Hoover STAUNTON, VA Mildred Elizabeth (Gilbert) Hoover, 73, of 2407 Fourth slipped away to be with her Lord at 11 a.m. Friday (May 22, 1998) at her home. She was born March 17, 1925, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Levi Forest and Zula (Blackwell) Gilbert. She was a former member of the Annex United Methodist but transferred to the Christian Center on April 22, 1990.

Through the years she served her Lord in a number of leadership positions: Sunday School teacher, Evangelism Chairman, a Certified Layspeaker, and active in LayWitness Missions. Meeting old and new friends was a speciality with her ass she witnessed God's touching hurting hearts. She was a graduate of Beverley Manor High School Class of 1944 and Dunsmore Business College on Dec. 21, 1945. She was an employee of the Waynesboro Community Hospital Dietary Department for eight years and retired from Stanley 'Furniture Company of Waynesboro with 13 years of service.

Matthew was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Woodberry Forrest in 1992 where he was co-captain of the swim team.

In 1996 he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bowdoin College in Maine with a major in psychology and a minor in environmental studies. At the present time he was continuing his studies in horticulture. Matthew had traveled externsively in Europe and Australia. He was involved with environmental projects in Oregon and Australia and was employed with Dr. and Mrs.

F.E. Comer at Hidden Acres Greenhouse in Weyers Cave. Besides his parents, surviving are a twin brother, Benjamin Scott Fox of Capitola, California; an older brother, Jonathan Frederick Fox of Boston, grandmother, Norma Drake of Augusta, Maine; an aunt, Ellen Fox Wygal of Manassas; two cousins, Jonathan F. Sanborn of Providence, R.I.; Michael McFarland of Springfield; and a dear friend, Cynthia Ann Grant. of Norfolk.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Monday morning at the home of Dr. and Mrs. F.E. Comer near Cross Keys on State Route 276.

The service will be conducted by Dr. John Sloop. Matthew's body will be donated to the Virginia Anatomical Program in Richmond. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church at Winter Haven. On June 24, 1934, he married Evelyn Randolph Click, who died on June 10, 1996. Police said the 1997 Toyota sedan, owned by Antha and Gretchen Robertson of HCR 33, Box 49, Staunton, was properly parked in the parking lot when an unknown vehicle backed out of a parking space, struck the car. and left the scene.
