Game devices OK'd PATASKALA Council passed an ordinance Monday to -license game room machines in the village at a yearly rate of $50 per machine. Village officials proposed the ordinance to give the village some control over game room operations and to generate additional revenue for the village. Council also approved Mayor Levi Streets' intention to appoint Ralph Hecker to the board of public affairs for a term beginning Jan.

Writing discussed Licking County secondary English teachers gathered Dec 2 at the Licking County Board of Education offices for the second of seven meetings of the Licking County Writing Project The three-hour session was devoted to the topics of "Pre-writing: How to Prepare Students to Write" and "Conferencing: How to Discuss a Student's Writing While It is in Process." Thirty hours of Instruction in the teaching of writing are being provided by the Licking County Board of Education with a basic skills grant from the Ohio Department of Education. The grant was written by Sewall Phelps and Judith Keck of the County Education office.

Couple sues driver A Pataskala couple filed a $138,000 suit in Licking County Common Pleas Courtagainst another Pataskala resident for Injuries they received in a December 1979 accident on Ohio 16. Paul and lienor Geis, Pataskala, filed the suit against Larry D. Paulson. They claim Paulson was intoxicated on Dec.

16, 1979, when he struck their auto. Paul Geis seeks $3,000 for a neck injury and $225 for medical bills. Ellenor seeks $125,000 and $10,000 for medical expenses. She reportedly received a severe injury to the chest which allegedly resulted in carcinoma. Tree is decorated The Ohio Commission on Aging has sponsored its final event for the year with the decorating and lighting of a Christmas tree on the statehouse lawn in Columbus.

The tree was decorated with ornaments submitted by senior citizen clubs and centers Monday, Tuesday and today. Lighting of the tree will be Thursday. Ornaments were submitted by Licking County representatives of the Silver Club, which meets weekly at Zerger Hall, and the Sinnett House in Granville. Judging of the ornaments was Dec. 4.

UTS offers 'hotline' United Telephone Company offers a toll-free "hotline" into its consumer affairs office to assist United Telephone customers who have been unable to resolve problems with their local repair or business office. Since the service was established in 1978, more than 5,000 customer calls have been handled on the "hotline." Company officials say a customer's first contact about a telephone problem should be with the local District Commercial Manager. But if customers want another contact, they may call the "hotline" at Scallan buys Lucas The Scallan Supply Company of Cincinnati has purchased the Lucas Supply Company of the Columbus area. In addition to Columbus, Lucas maintains branches in Newark and Gallion. Scallan has been a leading industrial distributor in Southwest Ohio for over 69 years.

It specializes in industrial supplies and transmission equipment. The Lucas acquisition, added to their branches in Kentucky and Indiana, will bring its total locations to six. The ownership transfer will mean improved service from larger inventories and more efficient order processing, a company spokesman said. Choir to visit Tiffin Members of Heath High School concert choir, under the direction of Jeff Risner, will travel to Tiffin to join the Heidelberg College-Community orhchestra and chorus for the 36th annual presentation of Handel's "Messiah" at Heidelberg College 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Members of Old Trinity Church, Tiffin, will house choir members overnight. The choir will sing several anthems in the Sunday service at Old Trinity Church. This is the second year Heath Choir has been a part of this notable event. Seniors plan party Buckeye Lake Senior Citizens will have its annual Christmas party Dec. 21 with the election of officers and a birthday celebration honoring those with birthdays the last three months of the year.
