The Herald said the conference had told the coaches and players to keep the action Maryland coach Lefty Drie-sell, when asked to comment on the report that two of his players were on probation, said, "Not two, just one." He would not identify the player or comment further. The Herald quoted an unidentified source from a conference school as saying the probations of Ribock and the Maryland players resulted from a fracas during the Maryland at South Carolina game Dec. 16.

Upset Jackson The Panthers moved into the win column of the YMCA High School League for the first time with an upset, 66-53, victory over the Jackson Five Wednesday night.

It' was the first victory in eight games for the winners while the Jackson Five dropped to a 3-5 mark. David Melton and Ervin Bryant each scored 16 points to pace the winners while Clinton Jones pumped 22 points to be the big man for the losers. The Outcasts continued to ride on top of the standings with their eighth straight win, a 76-73 conquest of the Bullets behind Sam Hamilton's 24 points and Ben Freeman's 16. Glenn Blackwell and Rock Wallace scored 20 points apiece for the losing Bullets. The Bullets dropped to a 2-6 record in losing.

The Super Bad won 81-74 over the Mob Squad to pick up their fifth win against three losses with Lewis Jones dropping in 23 points and Wayne Smith 20. Overall the Super Bad had four men in double figures to offset Jimmy Alexander's 36 points. The loss dropped the Mob Squad to a 5-3 mark also. The Reevers stayed on the Outcasts' heels with a 82-41 victory over the Aces to run their record to 7-1. For the Aces it was the seventh loss against a single victory.

Bob Elia had a big night with 41 points for the Reevers while Doug Cash was the top Ace scorer with 23 points.
