Kentucky has now won 10 of its last 11 games. Georgia fell to 4-3 for the year and 2-2 in the conference. Hipp picked up 172 yards on 31 carries for his fifth straight 100 yard plus performance.

Nebraska turned key Buff turnovers into scores to earn a 16- 13 come-from-behind half-time lead. Billy Todd's 42-yard field goal gave Nebraska a 3-0 lead but Howard Ballage returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards and Colorado led 7-3. (AP) Tenth-ranked Penn State scored three touchdowns in the first four minutes and 46 seconds with the help of a blocked punt and fumble recovery and went on to blow out West Virginia 49-28 Saturday for its sixth win in seven games.

The Mountaineers, however, turned in the game's most spectacular play, a third period 100-yard return of an intercepted pass by senior defensive halfback Tom Pridemore. But seven turnovers betrayed West Virginia in a futile effort to beat the Nittany Lions for the first time in 22 years, and sent the Mountaineers down to a third loss against four victories. Almost before a crowd of had settled in their seats, Penn State middle guard Randy Sidler blocked a punt and teammate Matt Millen ran the loose ball three yards into the end zone. On the next series, West Virginia punted, and on first down, quarterback Chuck Fusina threw the first of two touchdown passes, a 41-yarder to Mickey Shuler. After the Penn State kickoff, West Virginia's Dave Riley fumbled the ball away on second down at his 17.

Matt Suhey ran 10 yards and Steve Geise the final seven to make it 21-0 with 10:14 left in the first quarter. The Rockets won despite a conference record of 192 yards in penalties. The old mark was 163 set by Western Michigan in 1969. Hepinstall, a senior from Hillsdale, darted 37 yards for a score and then passed to Golan Perry for two extra points that pulled the Rockets even at 21-21.

Moments later, he ran 24 yards to put Toledo into the lead to stay, helping the Rockets win for the first time in seven games this fall. Toledo is 1-4 in the conference. Ohio suffered another costly loss, the Bobcats' sixth in seven games and fifth straight in the MAC. Ohio lost star quarterback Andy Vetter with an injured knee late in the third quarter. Vetter had gone over 1,000 total yards this season before he was hurt, another in a long line of injuries for the Bobcats.

U.S. District Court Judge Robert M. Hill ruled Friday that the bonuses paid to' Pugh and Wright to jump from the National Football League Cowboys to the WFL's Birmingham Americans were paid simply in return for signing a contract, not for actually playing. Pugh and Wright agreed in 1974 to leave the Cowboys at the end of the 1976 season and signed lucrative three-year contracts with the Americans for the 1977, 1978 and 1979 seasons. Under the terms of the contracts, Pugh, a defensive tackle, and Wright, a star offensive tackle, were paid each for signing the pacts and were to receive another $25,000 upon reporting.

the WFL folding in 1975, Alabama Football which owned the Birmingham team, sought to recover the bonuses, claiming both players had failed to meet the terms of their contracts, resulting in enrichment." "The bonus was not paid merely in anticipation of Pugh '-Wright's future services as a football player, but in exchange for a fully performed act, Pugh's-Wrlnhri signing of the contract," Hill wrote in two identical decisions. EVANSTON, HI. (AP) "We made some big plays but we made some bum ones too," said Woody Hayes Saturday after his 4th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes had overcome six turnovers to defeat Northwestern 35-15 and take sole possession of first place in the Big Ten. "We were too careless and had too many turnovers," said Hayes. "We didn't get the consistent effort from our defense we usually get." Asked if he was surprised at Minnesota's 16-0 victory over Michigan, Hayes said, "Anybody would be, wouldn't they?" Hayes then said the tipoff to Northwestern's surprising play was "what they did against Minnesota and what Minnestoa did to the other league leader." Informed that Ohio State is the only league leader, Hayes shook his head affirmatively and said, "I guess we are. I guess we are.

Northwestern last week gave Minnesota fits before dropping a 13-7 decision and Hayes said, "Give Northwestern credit, they were well prepared to play us and were a better team than we gave them credit for being." Hayes also admitted "whenever you go up against a team which hasn't been winning, its always tough to get up for the game." Northwestern Coach John Pont, his team riddled with injuries and missing four defensive starters, said "Ohio State is a very good football team. I was very impressed. But this game will help Northwestern more than people can imagine.
