The ExxonMobil Education Alliance Program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in their communities through educational grants. Heather Taylor, art teacher at Zanesville High School, has received confirmation of a grant award she applied for through the Jordan Brand of NIKE Inc. The grant was for $2,500 to acquire resource materials, supplies, equipment, transportation for field trips or other costs related to the objectives of the grant. Taylor has received grants from many sources over the last two years. The other grants Taylor has won include: Taylor-McHenry Foundation, Martha Holden Jennings Grant, Ecolab, State Farm, Martha Holden Jennings Grant, Taylor-McHenry, and Jordan Fundamentals, $2,500.

Savannah Aepli, a senior at Zanesville High School, has been named a Commended Scholar in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship Program. She is the daughter of Robert and Lorraine Aepli of Zanesville. Jon E. Harvey, son of Ron and Nancy Harvey of Zanesville, has been awarded the 20062007 Guillermo Salazar Undergraduate Scholarship. Harvey is pursuing a bachelor's degree in meteorology at The Ohio State University.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation has awarded the Myrtle and Earl Walker Scholarship to Kevin M. Hardy of Zanesville. Hardy is pursuing a degree in industrial technology at The Ohio State University. Ashley Leach, a member of Marietta College's Physician Assistant Studies Program, recently participated in the fifth annual White Coat ceremony held in the McDonough Center Audito Upcoming eventsmeetings Zanesville High School is inviting all area veterans to attend a ceremony in their honor to be held on Nov. 10, at the Zanesville High School auditorium.

For information: 453-0335. Sheridan Middle and High School student councils are sponsoring Super Saturday, this Saturday. The Ohio Association of Student Councils has chosen Sheridan High School as the location to provide a one-day workshop for all member schools in the state of Ohio. There will be speakers, a full-day of activities, swap shops and an intense focus on leadership for both students and advisors. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m.

and the workshop is over at 3:15 p.m. Cost is $15 per person for member schools and $30 for non-member school. Honorsawards Three students at Zanesville High School have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) exams. The program offers students the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advance placement, or both for successful performance on the AP exams.

Savannah Aepli, daughter of Robert and Lorraine Aepli, has been named an AP Scholar for receiving an average grade of 3.0 or higher on three or more AP exams. She received two scores of four and one score of five on three of four exams for a 3.5 average. Matthew Campbell, son of Ter-rance and Jessica Campbell, has been named an AP Scholar for receiving an average grade of at least 3.0 or higher on three or more AP exams. He received one score of five, one score of four, and two scores of three on five exams for an average of 3.2. He is a freshman at Duke University.

Zachary Grosshandler, son of Mark and Rosie Grosshandler, has been named an AP Scholar for receiving an average grade of 3.0 or higher on three or more AP exams. He received two scores of four and two scores of three on four out of six exams. He is attending the Ohio State University. Zanesville High School has received a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Education Alliance Program to support the school's Principal's Fund. Ed Coyne of the mony attended by college officials and students, Student Senate President Steven M.

Wright and fellow students Elissa M. Fishbaugh, Thomas Williams and Jeremy M. Finkel were honored for their work on the project. The course is located near the Patton and Kelley residence halls. Nancy Chess-Felde was the landscape architect for the project.

Zane State College's Community Education Division is offering a Winemaking for Beginners class on Nov. 11, hosted by Georgetown Vineyards in Cambridge. The class will be taught by John Nico-lazakas, owner of Georgetown Vineyards and an award winning winemaker. During the class, participants will discuss basic winemaking techniques and equipment. Participants will receive instruction on how to make five gallons of wine and be taught how to make wine at home.

Participants will also have an opportunity to purchase winemaking equipment. The instructional portion of the class will be followed by a wine tasting and a light lunch. Georgetown Vineyards is family owned and operated and specializes in a varied selection of award-winning wines, from dry California styles to sweet Ohio varietals. The class will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

At a recent ribbon-cutting cere AM. iu rv program at The University of Findlay, was awarded the Occupational Therapy Student of the Year award from the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association (OOTA) at its 2006 annual conference in Cincinnati Meredith was nominated for the award by Thomas Dillon, Ed.D., dean of Meredith graduate and professional studies and associate professor of occupational therapy. A local Maysville Elementary student has placed third in the annual Ohio Junior Duck Stamp Competition.

Chloe Sines, now a fourth-grader placed third in the state with her drawing of a Can-vasback Duck (Aythya valisineria). Each state holds competitions from February to mid April and the winner from each state contest competes in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Competition in Washington D.C. There were 420 entries in her age group K-3rd grade. Duck Stamp dollars benefit more than just waterfowl supporting hundreds of species of migratory birds and other wildlife including dozens of threatened and endangered species. This year's awards ceremony was held at the Amherst Theater in Amherst.

Further information about the competition may be found at Ducks Unlimited.com. Zane State College Foundation recognized 76 students at its 21st annual Scholar Recognition Breakfast on Oct. 17. The Zane State students recognized will be awarded a total of more than $60,000 to help pay for their tuition, fees, and buy books this academic year. Distributed by the foundation and contributed by area businesses, individuals, and organizations, the monies are intended to be used by the students to ease the economic burden of attending college.

Tara Adornetto, a 2006 graduate of Zane State, shared her inspirational story of returning to college at Zane State. Adornetto had a job and the intention to return to college to finish her degree, but never did. She married, had children and became a "domestic engineer," but was not satisfied. In April of 2004, she contacted Zane State and graduated in 2006. Adornetto, recognized as the Student of the Quarter for Winter Quarter of 2006, was a full-time student with a 4.0 grade point average.

She was member of Phi Theta Kappa, a national honorary society and a recipient of the Dr. Lynn and ...1 rium. Leach, of Zanesville, was one of 23 students from the Class of 2008 to slip on a white coat during ceremony, which celebrated the seven months of training already complet Leach ed in the 25-month program.
