Page 10A On ice By PEGGY MATTHEWS TR Staff Writer ZANESVILLE Frazeysburg police officer Patrick Jordan has been suspended following an investigation by the Muskingum County Sheriff's Department, This latest development brings to three the number of officers who have resigned or been suspended in the last few months. Jordan, who has said he will appeal, was cited for incompetence, immorality and conduct unbecoming an officer. A few months back, former chief Shane Mattingly resigned after admitting to sexual misconduct, and former officer Terry Swartz resigned after being accused of having sex with a minor.

Both denied their respective allegations. Jordan was investigated for three incidents. The first occurred in August, when he was accused of having an argument with his girlfriend, Nicole Shepherd, at her home, and then tried to arrest her for domestic violence. Deputies who arrived on the scene ordered Jordan off the premises and told him not to return, according to the investigation. A second charge against Jordan was the accidental discharge of his weapon, also in Shepherd's home.

She was not home at the time, but two juvenile boys were present when the gun went off, putting a hole in the wall about five feet above ground level. Jordan patched both the inside living room wall and the outside of the house before Shepherd returned. When confronted with the allegation, Jordan admitted he fired the .45 caliber, semi-automatic pistol accidentally and then checked the neighbors' homes to see if the bullet hit any of them. He told the neighbors a firecracker went off and told the boys to keep quiet, the report said. A third charge against Jordan is that he lied to Frazeysburg Mayor Darrell Smith.

In this incident, Jordan was accused of allowing Shepherd to ride with him in his cruiser while he was on duty. The report concluded Jordan was guilty of this, based on a taped call See OFFICER, Page 1 0A George suffered ligament sprain.
