BPW To Meet Sept. 2 Orem. This will be a finance meeting, with a pot luck dinner. The Orem BPW will meet Tues. Sept.

2, 7:30 at the home of Vinny Westrope, 938 230 More Men Take Social Security Before Age 65 A recent study by the Social Security Administration showed that a surprisingly large number of men are choosing to take benefits before age 65. In 1968, almost half of all retirement benefit awards to men were reduced because the beneficiaries elected to retire before age 65. In 1961, when the option of taking reduced benefits at age 62 was extended to men, it was assumed that the number taking early retirement would decline once the backlog of men in the 62-64 age group who had not been working became entitled to benefits. The anticipated decline has not occurred, and early retirement has remained popular either because many men have sufficient resources to make early retirement attractive, or they have ditficulty finding full employment in the years just preceding their decision to retire early. In comparing early retirees with men who wait until age 65 to claim benefits, men earning less than $2,400 in their last year of work were almost three times as high among retirees at age 62 as among men taking cash benefits at age 65.

The percentage of 62-year-old men not working in the year before entitlement was more than twice as large as among aged 65. The Provo, Utah District Office is located at 170 North 200 West. Their hours are 8:30 a.m, 4:30 p.m. weekdays, except Mon. when the office hours are extended to 6:30 p.m.

Mt. Fuel Supply Earnings Increase Mountain Fuel Supply Company's earnings for the first six months of 1969 and for the 12 months ended June 30, 1969, were considerably above earnings for the comparable periods a year ago, it was reported in the Company's Interim Report to Shreholders released Thursday. M.M. Fidlar, Company president, said the gains were due primarily to the increase in natural gas rates in Utah that became effective September 1, 1968, and also to colder weather during the past winter. He noted that because of lower rates in summer months the Company's earnings in the third quarter of the year would likely decline, but said the net annual effect of the new rates should be a marked increase in revenue.
