6-C THE TIMES RECORDER SUN. DEC. 0, 1992 'Aladdin' is a stunning, must-see Disney feature Robin Williams steals the show 1 cent Disney release that flopped over dead: "Newsies." The songs are simply OK, and not even close to te excellent music and lyrics found in "Beauty and the Beast." Regardless, the film is so magical and funny that I can easily accept "Aladdin" for what it is: a great animated feature and one of the best films of the year. Rated family entertainment. TR Rating A (Brown reviews filma and videos for The Times-Recorder.

The animation here is superb, rapidly changing with William's frantic comedy style. It's as though Williams was ad-libbing (something he does better than anyone) and the animation keeps up with him. Another show-stealer is the voice of Gilbert Gottfried as a wisecracking parrot. Gottfried is perfectly suited for this fun assignment, and he's more tolerable as an animated bird than as a live person.

"Aladdin" makes one huge mistake, similar to another re No one can say those folks at Disney aren't marketing geniuses. Hot on the heels of "Beauty and the Beast" video release, already an industry record-breaker, comes a brand new wunderkind of animated entertainment: "Aladdin." Once again the animation is stunning with vivid, beautiful colors throughout, perfectly balanced in every respect. Unlike most contemporary cartoons, "Aladdin's" background are as rich in texture and detail as the foreground. Robin Williams steals the show, providing the voice(s) for mated feature. The film has an original score by composer Alan Menken.
