Because of pregnancy hormones, your gums become inflamed and bleed easily. During this time, it's especially important to pay attention to dental hygiene. Be sure to brush twice a day, floss regularly and see your dentist at least once during the pregnancy. If you don't have your teeth cleaned (and plaque removed) once during this period, it can make your gum problems worse. It has been proven that the bacteria in gum disease can cause you to have a premature or low birth weight baby.

This jeopardizes the health of your baby and makes the early months of hisher life more difficult. You need to take excellent care of your gums and teeth while you are pregnant to help you and your baby's health. Do, however, avoid having x-rays taken, and consult your dentist before doing any repair work that requires anesthesia. Even local anesthesia can enter the blood stream and reach the fetus. Finally, consider having a dental checkup and cleaning toward the end of the nine-month period.

Because you may find yourself too busy to get in to see the dentist in the early months of your baby's life. lOOt FOR HlfT WEEK'S WICK: Bursmsntmimn. Advertise twice monthly in this directory for only $45Mo. Call 756-7669 GiftcJewelry 7Z- Sierra-West WJ EWELERB. hi Orem S.E.
