Page 40 OHIO WEEKEND ADVENTURES Thursday, May 14, 1998 'Serial Thriller' waiting for you .1 f f ' By Lou Whitmire Thomson News Service AURORA Geauga Lake opens its 110th season with the premiere of Serial Thriller, a $10 million, suspended looping coaster. The suspended looping coaster is designed to carry trains below the track rather than above it. Thrill seekers will enjoy the 90-second ride over 2,037 feet of solid steel track. Riders first ride up a 120-foot hill before diving within approximately eight feet of the lake, all while traveling at speeds in excess of 50 mph. This radical new ride will take you through seven twists, loops and spirals. Open daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day and weekends in May, September and October, Geauga Lake theme park, based in Aurora, features more than 100 rides and attractions. When its 1998 season is complete, the theme park will have undergone more than $30 million in capital improvements and additions since 1996. For 110 years, Geauga Lake has provided guests of all ages with state-of-the-art rides and attractions. Guests also can enjoy the park's wet attractions. Geauga Lake's lineup of water attractions includes Hook's Lagoon, the Wave, Neptune's Falls and Stingray Wet Slides. For pint-sized guests the park also offers Turtle Beach, the water playground built exclusively for kids. Shows also are scheduled for guests daily, including everything from magic and circus shows to foot-stompin' country or rocking '50s musicals. Geauga Lake is nine miles north of Ohio Turnpike Exit 13187 approximately 30 miles southeast of downtown Cleveland and 35 miles north of Akron, directly adjacent to SeaWorld on Ohio 43 in Aurora.
