"That it got taken to such proportion is staggering to me," Williams says of the date with Henderson.

"I don't regret putting it in the book. I was not thrilled with the fallout of what it became. That wasn't the point, that wasn't the intention. It's not what 'The Brady Bunch' or what I and Florence Henderson was about." Winiams says the way the date is depicted in the film is exactly bunch of bell bottoms or crazy clothes. This is about relatively ordinary people in relatively extraordinary circumstances, and what happened." The movie does explore some serious themes, such as the antagonistic relationship between Brady dad Robert Reed and series creator Sherwood Schwartz.

But some of the cuter episodes from Williams' book are there as well. -Also making its way into the movie is the inevitable romantic tension, some of which involved Williams and Maureen "Marcia" the way it happened: "We played it straight, with the innocence and naivete that it rightfully deserves." Now 45, Williams has fond memories of that night and of most of the "Brady" experience. In fact, he hasn't entirely gotten Bradydom out of his blood that is, if a tongue-in-cheek announcement he made to his colleagues is to be believed. "I was teasing our company," Williams says. "I said, 'For my next project, I'm happy to announce and I'd like you all to be part of it I'm going to be making a television movie about the making of the television movie of the book about "The Brady the more than 30 years since "The Brady Bunch" first arrived on the cultural scene, Barry Williams Greg Brady; a.k.a.

About the only Brady-related thing Williams has- n't seen is an adult video. probably too old for that," he says.) But despite the reverence Williams holds for the sitcom that has forever made him famous, there was a time when he'd had enough of Greg. Back in 1989, when Williams was headlining a Broadway production of the musical "Romance, Romance," he was getting a lot of press, but for something other than his performance in the musical. "What would happen is that people would come and ask me two questions about 'Romance, Romance' and about 74 questions about 'The Brady Williams says.

"And I was think: ing, 'Folks, please. Go watch That was when Williams decided that if you can't beat "Brady" fans, join 'em. The result was "Growing Up Brady: I Was a Teenage Greg," a best-selling, behind-the-scenes look at the '70s series and its stars. Now "Growing Up" has matured into a movie that is a far cry from the downbeat fare that is so typical of this genre. "This is not the tragic stories of the kid who used to be "The Brady says Williams, who served as a co-executive producer and also has a cameo role.

Not only is the 19-year-old actress out of school and out of her parents' Pennsylvania home, but Torpey, who has played Jessica Buchanan on "One Life to Live" for more than 10 years, used her first front-burner story line to nab her first Daytime Emmy nomination for outstanding younger actress. And with age comes career expansion: Look for Torpey to showcase her singing talents in a upcoming "OLTL" episode. Coverstory: How did it feel to finally be nominated? Erin Torpey: It was actually pretty cool, and because our show hasn't done very well with nominations the past couple of years, I wasn't expecting it.

CS: Why do you think this was the year? Because of your teen-pregnancy story line? ET: Yes, I'm sure it was, because the story was pretty powerful, and they wrote really great things for me to do. CS: You've been with "OLTL" since you were 8 years old. What keeps you around? ET: When I was little, it was perfect because I could go to school and have a life but still do what I loved. I was only working once a week, or sometimes once a month, so it was perfect. But now that I'm older, the show has become a family it's very comfortable.

And this is my first year out of school, so I figured I gotta give it a shot and see how I like it. I was going to leave last year for college, then I was like, "I've never worked here and just concentrated on the work. I've The End of the Affair Dim the lights, get out a box of tissues and settle in this exem-v plary story of wartime love and loss. Julianne Moore (in an Oscar-nominated performance) shines as a woman torn between passion and duty, while Ralph Fiennes has never been more appealing than in this of a man tormented by his overwhelming love for her. But the most subtle, heart-wrenching performance comes from Stephen Rea as Moore's suffering, cuckolded husband.

Emotional but never sappy or sentimental, this Neil Jordan film is an unforgettable experience. The World Is Not Enough His name is Bond, James Small Time Crooks With this funny caper-gone-awry comedy, Woody Allen returns to what he does best. Hilarious sight gags, snappy dialogue and a cast of some of the most talented comedic actors working today make this movie a delight. Allen stars as a smalltime crook whose wife, the amazing Tracey Ullman, is the brains of the inept gang he assembles to pull off a bank robbery. Allen and Ullman have great chemistry, as do Ullman and Hugh Grant, who tempts Ullman into infidelity.

And Elaine May steals the movie as Ullman's incredibly dopey cousin. Road Trip Take four college guys, throw in plenty of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, and send the lads on a mission that takes them from Ithaca to Austin in three days, and you've got "Road Trip." ympathy Flowers A tribute to the ones they loved. So I figured I'd give it at least two more years and see what it's like. CS: You did "Cat on Hot Tin Roof and "The Goodbye Girl" on Broadway several years ago.

Would you be interested in doing more musical theater? ET: I would love to do musical theater while I'm doing the show. My first love is singing. And acting, I just kind of fell into it. But right now I'm working so much that I think I would go crazy doing both. But I would definitely love to do theater again.

It's a great experience. CS: Do you have any career goals for the future? ET: I never like to plan. I'm not very good at saying, "I'm going to do this and this." But what I love to do is sing. I love acting, but I've been doing it for a long time and I've kind of ignored singing, so I really want to concentrate more on that. Bond, and in this 19th 007 outing, Pierce Brosnan once again brings his sophisticated charm to the role of the Like all Bond movie'sT'The i World Is Not Enough" is packed' with amazing action sequences -the opening, set in Bilbao, Spain, near the stunning new Guggenheim Museum, is particularly noteworthy evil villains and beautiful women.

But even hardcore Bond fans will admit that this installment has a major flaw, for while Denise Richards looks good in her wet tank top, she is woefully miscast as Christmas Jones, a nuclear-weapons expert. It's laughable every time Richards tries to deliver a line. Fortunately, there are plenty of competent actors in the film. Sophie Marceau, Judi Dench, Robert Carlyle and Robbie Coltrane are among those who help make this a worthy visit to the wild world of Bond. Jenny Peters Starring Tom Green, Breckin Meyer, Amy Smart and Seann William Scott, the movie is occasionally funny but it's also gross and blatantly sexist.

Up at the Villa In this so-so "Villa," Kristin Scott Thomas plays a British widow living in Florence in the early days of Mussolini's rule. Her existence is rocked by the arrival of a roguish American (Sean Penn) and an ill-fated one-night stand with a pathetic refugee (Jeremy Davies). Scott Thomas is more wan than usual, and Penn is miscast as the caring scoundrel who comes to her aid. The liveliest actors are Derek Jacobi (as a gay onlooker) and especially Anne Bancroft as an expatriate who's happy to dance the night away while the world burns around her. Jenny Peters, D.B.W..
