SPECTRUM CHURCH LIFE FRIDAY, APRIL 36, 198S 11 Marshall speaker for YW conference Missions ST. GEORGE The St. George East Stake Young Women's Conference, Saturday at the East Stake Center, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be highlighted by guest speaker Vikki Marshall of Logandale, who will address the subject "Decisions" Saturday. A well-known lecturer in the western United States, Marshall is currently serving as stake young women's president.

Other activities for the day include workshops, a luncheon, and a fashion show presented by Christensen's Department Store. Workshops for the different age groups include: "Dare to Care" by Kathy Harker, "Poise" by Barbara Watson, "Perky Party Ideas" by Laurie Lundin, "Memories are Forever" by Helen Drake and Kathy VanGilder, "Dating -Make it Fun" by Deanna Blake, "It's My Never Ending Story" by Patsy Lamb, Shanna Simpson and David Heaton, "You Reap What You Sew" by Bret and Colleen Sevy. ft 17., l' -v 1 I 4 -fry 'V A Robinson winner at state history fair ELDER STEVE M. PICKETT SISTER BERLE BOWLER HOLT I i i mi -x 1 riT taui CEDAR CITY Becky Robinson, a seventh-grade student at the Cedar Middle School, won first place in the project division at the Utah History Fair in Salt Lake City for her entry, "The Cactus Mine." The mine Robinson researched for her entry was located in Newhouse, now a ghost town near Milford. Robinson became interested in the Cactus Mine because one of her great grandfathers worked in the mine.

Visited town Her entry in the fair was a replica of old-time mining ore care with a tunnel backdrop. She also displayed artifacts from the mine, including gold ore tailings from a mill, bricks from a home in Newhouse and old nails and screws used at the time the mine was running. Chris-tensen, area director for the LDS Church Educational System, will speak at the Cedar City Institute Devotional Tuesday at 11 a.m. His topic is, "The Whole Armor of God." Christensen has an extensive background in business and education, and has served with the Church Educational System for 21 years.

Prior to his assignment in Cedar City he was coordinator for Church Education in the Dallas, Texas area. He is currently serving in the bishopric of the Cedar City 10th Ward. He and his wife Barbara are the parents of six children. ELDER DAVID E. WELLER ELDER ERIK W.

HUGHS CALLS ELDER DAVID E. WELLER ST. GEORGE Elder David E. Weller as been claled to the New Zealand Aukland Misson. He will enter the Mission Training Center May 9.

A farewell testimonial will be held in his honor at the St. George 12th Ward April 28, at 2 p.m. ELDER STEVE M. PICKET CEDAR CITY Elder Steve M. Pickett has been called td the Ireland Dublin Mission.

He will enter the Mission Training Center May 16. A farewell testimonial will be held in his honor at the Cedar 19th Ward in the Cedar Stake Center April 28 at 9 a.m. Elder Pickett is the son of Lorin and Dorothy Pickett. SISTER BERLE BOWLER HOLT ENTERPRISE Sister Berl Bowler Holt has been called to the Idaho Boise Mission. Sister Holt enter the Mission Training Center May 15.

ELDER THOMAS MILES GUBLER SANTA CLARA Elder Thomas Miles Gubler returned April 26 from the Missouri St. Louis Mission. Gubler reported at the Santa Clara First Ward April 26. He is the son of Dale Gubler of Santa Clara. Genalogy conference scheduled SALT LAKE CITY -The National Genealogical Society announced the fifth annual conference in Salt Lake City, August 6-9, in the Salt Palace Convention Center.

The Utah Genealogical Association will act as host. Other organizations assisting are the Genealogical Library of LDS Church and Brigham Young University's Family and Community History Department. ELDER JAMES STANWORTH ELDER ERIK W. HUGHS CEDAR CITY Elder Erik W. Hughes has been called to the California Anaheim Mission.

He will enter the Mission Training Center on May 16, 1985. A farewell testimonial will be held in his honor in the Cedar 18th LDS Ward on Sunday, April 28, at 11:30 a.m., at the Rock Church in Cedar City. Elder Hughes is the son of Don and Darleen Hughes. RETURNS ELDER WALLACE MARK HENDERSON PARAGONAH Elder Wallace Mark Henderson returned from the Missouri-Independence LDS Mission April 3. He reported his mission April 14 in Paragonah.

Elder Henderson is the son of Mark and Earlene Henderson of Paragonah. ELDER JAMES STANWORTH HURRICANE Elder James Stan-worth returned April 26 from the Jackson Mississippi Mission. Elder Stanworth will report at the Hurricane Stake Center April 28 at 12:40 p.m. Church Life deadline reminder The Spectrum Church Life would like to remind southern Utahns the deadline is Monday at 5 p.m. for all articles and photos for materials to be published in the issues following Utah Catholic women to gather for Ogden convention Church in Ogden, with Bishop William K.

Paul Neilson, Provo; General Chairman Mrs. Robert Cushman, Brigham City and Mrs. Joe Cerroni, Tooele have been in charge of the two-day event. The convention will convene Saturday with registration and continental breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. The general session starts at 9 a.m.
