REISS SR. Dean R. Reiss 82, of 2535 Hickory Lane, Coopersburg, died Feb. 23 in his home. He was married to Grace I.

(Kunsman) Reiss for 56 years in September. He was a self-employed dairy farmer in Springfield Township from 1946 until retiring in 1985. Born in Spring Valley, he was a son of the late Elmer E. and Mary C. (Fluck) Reiss.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley, and served on its council. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War IL. He was a member of the Springfield Township Planning Commission, 1969-74, and the Upper Bucks Authority, and a Springfield Township supervisor, 1974-85. Survivors: Wife; sons, Dean R. Jr.

Skrabut for 61 years in October. She was a licensed practical nurse. Born in Ambridge, Beaver County, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Elsie (Peterson) Blosser. Survivors: Husband; daughter, Linda S. Ruprecht of New Tripoli; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

DOROTHY M. STROCK Dorothy M. Strock, 82, of Allentown, died Feb. 22 in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall Township. A graduate of Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, and Houghton (N.Y.) College, she was a registered nurse for various doctors in the Lehigh Valley and previously for Western Baptist Hospital, Paducah, Ky.

Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late Calvin D. and Esther E. (Meinhoefer) Strock. She was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church, Allentown. Services: 10 a.m.

Hern, 50, of Bath, died Feb. 23 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was married to Marta M. (Morris) Hern for 23 years last April. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, he was a salesman for Pall Trincor Exton, Chester County.

Previously, he was a chemist for Chevron Research in California and Alaska. Born in Oakland, he was a son of Herbert R. and Betty Jane (Crisswell) Hern of Niceville, Fla. She was married to Eduards Ukstins for 62 years in September. She received bachelor's and master's degrees from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.

She was a biochemist for the university for 25 years before retiring in 1976. Born in Grobin, Latvia, she was a daughter of the late Rudis and Lina (Rozentreters) Nedesons. She was a member of Bucks County Latvian Baptist Church, Applebachsville. Survivors: Husband; son, Rev. Uldis E.

MARJORIE A. WARD Marjorie A. Ward, 74, of Quakertown, died Feb. 24 in St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital.

PAUL W. KULP Paul W. Kulp, 79, of Bethlehem, died Feb. 23 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.

He was married to Virginia (Cortez) Kulp for 53 years. He was a Bethlehem police officer for 25 years before retiring in 1984. After retiring, he worked for the student loan department of First Union Bank and in security for Bethlehem City Hall. Born in Kellers Church, he was a son of the late Howard and Alma (Strouse) Kulp. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, an usher and greeter and a member of its dart baseball team.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe and receiving a Purple Heart medal. He was a member of Harold V. Knecht American Legion Post 415, Nazareth, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 7 and Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 190, both of Allentown. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 20, Men of Retirement Age YMCA branch, Bethlehem, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1622, Quakertown. Survivors: Wife; daughter, Pamela Casciani of Bethlehem; brother, Kenneth of Bangor; two grandchildren.

He owned and operated Sportsman Bar and Grill, Bangor, before retiring in 1985. Born in Wind Gap, he was a son of the late Owen D. Sr. and Lily (Cals) Owens. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of the American Legion, Roseto.

ALLENTOWN FOREIGN POLICY EXPERT TO SPEAK, SIGN BOOKS New York Times best-selling author and international political authority Michael Mandelbaum will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Crest College's Reimert Lecture in the Samuels Theatre, 100 College Drive, Allentown.
