Members of the Lions say Peters never paid dues and hasn't been a member for months, but his name was still on the club checking account and he made three withdrawals. The club used its money to provide eyesight assistance to children. Newbern Police Investigator Rodney Wright said Peters told police he used the first two transactions to help people, but wouldn't identify them.
