Osborne Howard of Owensville. The wedding will take place in June. Employed at the Jefferson hotel, the bride-to-be has been making her home in Mexico for several months. On June 7, she will leave for the east for her wedding to take place there. Corporal Schaefferkoetter is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. Louis Schaefferkoetter of Owensville. Benton City Presbyterian Women Meet To Quilt NORTH BENTON The Women of the Presbyterian church held Mrs. their Harrison in Benton with City Thursday. Joe Righter of Laddonia announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Gloria Righter, to Virgil Girard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Girard Farber, which took place Friday May 16, when the couple slipped away to Arkansas where they were married. The bridegroom is employed at Heim Equipment and Supply in Laddonia and his bride assists at the Righter Cafe, operated by her parents. They will reside in Laddonia.

Miss Betty Louise Johnson of Kansas City, is spending several days here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Johnson.

Fred Crawford of Kansas City, a former resident, is in Mexico on business for several days. Engagement Announced MISS JEAN LUSHER and Hustlers 4-H Club Meets For Monthly Program The B. and G. Hustlers 4-H club held the regular meeting Friday evening. Muir, Mr. Powers and Mr. and Mrs. Slonaker. Past Presidents Meet At Fair Home The Past of Veterans of Foreign Wars jary met Monday evening at home of Mrs.

Charles Fair. The business meeting was opened with Mrs. Carl Precht, president, reading "Orphans Show the Way." Mrs. Viola Keele told of the First District Auxiliary meeting, which she attended Sunday, at Carrollton. Miss Georgia Mae was welcomed as a new member.

Refreshments were served and Mrs. Fair lead the games which followed. Mrs. Precht and Mrs. John Best were the winners.

The next meeting will be June 16, with Mrs. Lee Roc. Mrs. Roy Parker and Mrs. Clyde Kotsenburg were other members attending.

Mr. and Mrs. Wells To Observe Anniversary Invitations have been received here to the 50th wedding anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Bert F.

Wells of 135 El Morado Court at Onterio, to be held Sunday, May 25. Their two children, Mrs. Vera Wells Cornelius and Edward L. Wells, both of Onterio, will be hosts at observance held at the Wells home tombs to 5 o'clock in the afternoon. For many years, Mr.

and Mrs. Wells resided here on East Jackson street. While here, Mr. Wells was in the plumbing business. They are both active members of the Methodist church in Onterio and Mrs.

Kindergarten Chairmen, Named By P-TA Unit Mrs. Clarence Pulis and Mrs. Harold Edwards have been named co-chairmen of the summer kindergarten project, sponsored by the Mexico Pre-School Parent-Teacher Association and the Board Education.

The announcement was made at the Tuesday night meeting of the P.TA held in the cafeteria of Hardin Junior High School following a pot luck supper. Serving on the committee with them will be Mrs. Hershel Meek. Mrs. G.

Jefferson Mexico, Missouri I Charlie Robinsons To Celebrate 55th Wedding Date Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Robinson. who live in Montgomery county a mile north of Danville and two miles west of MontgomCity, will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary at their home on Sunday, May 25. All their friends and relatives are invited for the all day gathering, with a barbecue and all the trimmings served by the host and hostess.

They are the parents of two children: Austin, who lives on a farm near his parents; and Mrs. Warren Hubbard (Blanche), who lives in Montgomery City. Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard are the parents of three children, one boy and two girls.

Mr. Robinson's sister is Mrs. C. H. Dickey, lives near Auxvasse, and who has a son, Roy Dickey.

Fidelis Art Club Has Program At Home Of Mrs. James Hammett LADDONIA The regular monthly meeting of the Fidelis Art Club was held Friday at the home of Mrs. James Hammett, with Mrs. Joe Shaw as program leader. The meeting was called to order by Mrs.

Bazz shears, president. The club. collect and junior pledge repeated and the song "America" was sung by the group. Nine members answered roll call with "A Short Cut To My The treasurer reported $119.48 balance. Mrs.

Other guests of the afternoon were Mrs. Orval Morris and Mrs. Eugene Jenkins of Mexico, and Mrs. Clyde Brown of Laddonia, who became a member of the club. The hostess served light refreshments, and the meeting adjourned.

Garden Club Reaffirms Iris As Official Flower The iris, long considered the official flower of the Mexico Garden club, was recently reaffirmed a committee appointed to act on the matter and composed of Mrs. L. B. Haw. thorne, Mrs.

W. L. Davenport, and Mrs. R. D.

Worrell. Wild flower members of the iris family (IRIDACEAE), which are found in Missouri are several species of wild flag, Blueeyed Grass, and Celestial Lily. Cultivated members of the family include the iris, gladiolus, and crocus. The Fleur de Lis or German Iris of central and southern Europe is species a from which many of the cultivated iris varieties have been developed. The Iris genus gets its name from the Greek word for rainbow and refers to the prismatic colors found in the flowers.

McClungs Return Dr. and Mrs. C. Spurgeon McClung, who have been visiting in Oklahoma and Texas for the past two months, have returned to Mexico. En route home they attended the Southern Baptist Convention at Miami, Fla.

Dr. McClung, pastor of the First Baptist church, has been on leave from the church following a heart attack. Read And Kenneth Elliott Marry In Vandalia VANDALIA The wedding of Miss Mary Lois Read. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W.

Read of Vandalia, and Kenneth Richardson Elliott, son of Mrs. H. N. Elliott of Keytesville, took place Sunday, First Christian Church of Vandalia. Rev.

John W. Hall officiated amid setting of white spring flowers and candelabra holding lighted tapers. Preceding the ceremony, Miss Carolyn Evans played organ music, and Mrs. Halbert Clinton of St. Louis sang, "Always," and accompanied by Miss Evans.

Mr. Read gave his daughter in marriage. Her ankle length gown of white lace was fashioned with long sleeves and as high round neckline. The full skirt of nylon tulle over lace was extended by crinoline. Her shoulder length veil was of white nylon tulle pleated on a narrow band.

The bride carried a white satin covered Bible adorned with a white orchid, surrounded by stephanotis, and stephanotis was knotted in the long white satin streamers. The matron of honor was Mrs. Charles W. Akard, of Grant City. sister of the bride.

She wore a length dress of ballerina, over taffeta which had a fitted bodice and full skirt. Her hat was a band of stephanotis and pale green maline. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink rosebuds and pink carnations surrounded by green maline from which fell satine bride's streamers. mother wore navy blue with matching accessories. The mother of the bridegroom wore a dress of pink and black with black accessories.

Each had a corsage of pink carnations. The best man was Walter Drace of Kansas City. Ushers were Raymond Read, brother of the bride, and Harold Edwards, cousin of the After the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Read held.
