They have faithfully adhered to political principle ami legislated to this time in the interest of the people, pressing nil needed public reforms in a judicious manner, leaving the Democratic branch take the responsibility of delaying, and perhaps defeating finally, "the much demanded reformatory so seriously affecting the public welfare. It was particularly gratifying to the Republicans to note the number of Democrats that forsook the ranks of that party and cast in their lots, and their ballots too, with their former political enemies. Democrats looked askance, as the rank and file of their once solid phalanx broke away and filed in line with their life-long opponents.

But change is written upon all things sublunary, and those who changed so suddenly, on Saturday last, may change again, ere the ides of October.
