Jackson City Council At Friday's first city council meeting: Mayor Charles Farmer summarized NAACP objections to the transition plan on thawing school zone lines that the city submitted Dec. 1 to federal Judge Odell Horton. Powers, blind judge PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) William E. Powers, who became a state Supreme Court justice and attorney general despite blindness, died Saturday at age 81 from natural causes. He became blind in 1928 after an accident the previous year, but Powers went on to become probate judge from 1936 to 1949; a state representative from 1939 to 1949; state attorney general from 1949 to 1958; and Supreme Court justice from 1958 to 1973. Schools Superintendent Tommy Allen was authorized to contract with Group Work Camp, a non-denominational magazine, to bring in 350 youths to help restore nouses for the needy.

He completed his Internship at Methodist Hospitals of Memphis and was currently a resident at Vanderbilt University Hospital In Anesthesiology. He Is survived by his wife, Anita Boehms Langdon and a daughter, Karen Christine both of Nashville, his parents, Dr. and Mrs. James A. Langdon of Jackson, a brother, Dr.

James Russell Langdon of Knoxville, two sisters, Lola Lynn Culler of Winston Salem, N.C. and Kay Coats of Atlanta, Ga. and his grandmother, Mrs. C. D.
