Preparing to fill out the "dreaded orm" is always such a challenge? Randi Maftjn Perkasie, PA This is something we all like to put off, isn't it? Well, my first advice is "Don't Set a March 1st deadline. Your tax preparer will appreciate your thoughtfulness. They deserve the time to complete your form without the last minute rush.

As soon as the old year ends, start a new tax file. I recommend a large, many pocket accordion file. This way all tax records are self contained in one parcel. Label each pocket, and of course, date the front of the file. When reviewing your old papers, go through each category discard unnecessary papers, staple all remaining sheets together in date order.

Discard unnecessary papers. You should complete this for each category such as childcare, medical, loans, mortgages, insurance, etc. On February 1 st, after receiving your 1 099 forms, you will be ready to easily gather your numbers. Ask your preparer if he has a tax booklet to help you in compiling your financial information. Sit down with a large tablet and on the first page list all categories in alphabetical order.

In that same order assign a page to each category. List all numbers and totals on each page An identifying note next to each amount is a good reference in a future audit situation. A computer can be invaluable in this process. I hope this will be timesaving and helpful. Remember, get these numbers to your preparer by March 1st.

It will be one more thing off your mind. oi kt i nv I rib KtLUScT LADY Call for Complimentary Information on Custom Designed Storage Spaces CREATIVE CLOSETS, LTD. 215-433-0933 Send your questions to: 431 N. 14th Allentown, PA 18102 man. Mr.
