The Generals doubleheader sweep of Northeast Miss. Thursday gave them 11 victories in their last 12 games. JSCC, now 19-9, won 15-1 and 8-6 Thursday.

In the opener, Steve Dew capitalized on a devastating 14-hit attack to win his second game against no losses. He hurled a five-hitter and didn't allow a run until the fifth inning. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule. Sensational centerfielder Tommy Blankenship continued his unbelievable hitting with a perfect. 4-for-4, including two doubles and three RBIs.

Chris Faulkner, Steve Lee and Brian Cook each added two hits. Mike Milan contributed a two-run homer, Cook two doubles, Lee two RBIs and Mark Turner two RBIs and a double. In the finale, Mike Nelson survived a shakey first inning to record his second pitching victory of the year. Nelson allowed four first-inning runs, but settled down and limited the Mississippians to only two the remainder of the game. JSCC collected only five hits in the second game, but capitalized on six walks and two hit batsmen.

Keith Hegler collected two hits, including a double, while Lee and Milan also added doubles. JSCC travels to Nashville for a key doubleheader with Aquinas Saturday. Five teams, including Aquinas and JSCC, are fighting for the TJCAA Western Division lead. Tennis Serve Reaches 126 M.P.H. SAN FRANCISCO AP) This year's search for the fastest tennis serve in the nation is off to a 126 miles-per-hour start.

The national champion, to be determined in a big serve-off at Forest Hills in August, may hit 135 m.p.h. or better. Colin Dibley, touring pro from Australia, won last year's title with a clocking of 130. But since speed is the name of this tournament's game with each contestant given six tries to get a cannonball serve into the return area it is merely the tennis equivalent of a golf driving contest. A weekend tennis player, Steve McGee of ban San Anselmo, got off the 126 m.p.h.

serve here to earn a trip to Forest Hills. The 6-foot-6 former Santa Clara University basketball player edged pro Chris Sylvan of Los Angeles, whose effort was 123 m.p.h. Scott Carnahan, a young pro who has had limited success in tournament play, is considered the Nolan Ryan of tennis. In another fast-serve contest, he registered a 137 m.p.h. believed to be the fastest serve ever recorded by the electronic devices used to catch the speed of tennis serves and baseballs thrown by pitchers like the 100 m.p.h.

Ryan. Seattle Seeks Tarkanian SEATTLE (AP) While Jerry Tarkanian hears salary negotiations, the president of the Seattle SuperSonics hears only silence. Tarkanian, coach of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas basketball team, says he has met with Sonics' officials and his agent has been negotiating with Seattle on a salary. Tarkanian revealed that information to a Las Vegas newspaper Thursday, according to the Seattle Times. He is considered a prime candidate' to coach Seattle's National Basketball Association team.

Sam Schulman, Sonics president, said he was discussing the coaching situation with Bill Russell, the team's present coach and general manager. Tennis Championships In Memphis MEMPHIS (AP) The U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships will be held in Memphis for the next two years, officials announced Thursday. Racquet Club officials said they have signed a contract with the United States Tennis Association to hold the tournament here in 1978 and 1979. The contract, including a national television hookup with CBS, will be part of the Super Grand Prix Series.

Peter Curtis, president of the Racquet Club, said the tournament in 1978 will offer at least $200,000 and possibly as much as $350,000 if the Racquet Club reaches an agreement with a co-sponsor. This year's tournament was held Feb. 28-March 6 at the Racquet Club and featured $175,000 prize money. From the field of 64, top seeded Bjorn Borg defeated Brian Gottfried for top prize money of $28,000. Gottfried won $14,000.

Attendance for the week was 34,785. The U.S. Indoors moved to Memphis this year after 17 years in Salisbury, Md. Red Sox For Sale BOSTON (AP) The Boston Red Sox are up for sale, with no asking price and no immediate bids apparently in the offing. Owned by multi-millionaire businessman-sportsman Tom Yawkey for 43 years until his death last July, the Red Sox were put on the market Thursday by his widow, Jean, executor of the estate.

New Orleans Open Gets Rest NEW ORLEANS (AP) Masters champion Tom Watson got an extra day of rest, thanks to the rain that postponed completion of the first round of the $175,000 New Orleans Open. As a result, Craig Stadler got extra hours to savor the unfamiliar taste of a tournament lead. The opening round was rescheduled for completion today weather permitting. Stadler, who won less than $3,000 last year, shot a six-under-par 66 over the course at Lakewood Country Club Thursday. Watson, leading money winner on the tour this year, was two strokes back, tied with Keith Fergus at 68.
