Emma Hufsmith Mrs. Emma Hufsmith, 92, of George Ellen East Stroudsburg, died Friday in Pleasant Valley Manor, Stroudsburg R.2. She was the widow of Howard Hufsmith. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Jacob J. and Emma (Ruhf) Hoffert.

She was a member of College Hill Moravian Church, Bethlehem. Surviving are a granddaughter and a grandson. "Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Warner Funeral Home, 23 N. 9th Stroudsburg.

A calling hour will precede services. Albert E. Althouse Albert E. Althouse, 76, of 824 Ed-gemont Palmerton, died Saturday in Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Mildred (Green) Althouse and the late Mayme (ULshafer) Althouse.

He was a product inspector at New Jersey Zinc Palmerton, for 48M years before retiring in 1971. Born in Danielsville, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Ziegenfus) Althouse. He was a member of Church of God, Palmerton. Surviving with his widow are two sons, Wayne A. of Jim Thorpe and Franklin E.

of Mahoney Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Merkel of Lehigh-ton and Reba, wife of John Gold-sworth of Aquashicola, Carbon County, a brother, Mervin of Palmerton; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Palmerton.

Thomas K. Thomas. George Brown, Texas construction magnate and mentor to LBJ HOUSTON George Rufus Brown, the construction magnate who played an important role in the rise of the political career of the late President Lyndon B. Johnson, died Saturday at age 84. Brown and his brother Herman, molded Brown Root, from a small road-building company into one of the world's largest construction conglomerates.

The Brown brothers were instrumental in the rise of Johnson from a freshman congressman representing a sparsely populated central Texas district to the presidency. "George Brown had one of the most creative, wide-ranging minds I ever knew. He retained a youthful search for knowledge," Johnson's widow, Lady Bird, said in a statement issued through her press secretary, Liz Carpenter. "Quite simply, all our family loved him." Harry E. Burns Harry E.

Burns, 58, of 801 N. Jor-don Allentown, died Thursday in Muhlenberg Medical Center. He was the husband of Ana (Rodriguez) Burns. He was a painting subcontractor for many years before retiring in 1982. Born in Puscaloosa, Alabama, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary (Hill) Bums.

He was a Navy veteran serving 1941-42. Surviving with his widow are a son, Harry E. Jr. of Alabama; four daughters, Lucy Gargus, in Alabama, Sylvia, wife of Ted Speaker, in Texas, Hilda, wife of Edwin Lozada of Miami, and Joyce, wife of Jerry McGloin, in Oregan, and a brother Maurice of New Orleans, La. Services will be at 8 p.m.

Monday in the Weber Funeral Home, 502 Ridge Allentown. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 7-8 p.m. Monday. DEATHS William Laubach, former teacher in Northampton district William N.

Laubach, 62, of 544 Gray Stone Drive, Cherryville, was dead on arrival Friday at Palmerton Hospital after being stricken at his home. He was the husband of Elizabeth R. (Nause) Laubach. He was a former junior high school teacher in the guidance and history departments of the Northampton Area School District for 35 years before retiring in 1980. Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Howard and Estelle (Nace) Laubach.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem, i He was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the military police in the European Theater. Surviving with his widow are a Son, Richard W. of Bethlehem and a daughter, Connie wife of Richard D. Baucher of Cherryville; a twin "brother, Alfred A. of Northampton; sisters, Kathleen, wife of Reuban Close of Glen Mills, Delaware County, and Christine, wife of Rev.

John Stump of Clearmont, and four grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11:30 ia.m. Tuesday in the church. Calling hours will be p.m. Monday in the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Northampton.

She was the widow of Percy Trexler. She was a silk worker for many years at the former Callenbach and Stephens Silk Mill, Allentown. She was born in Philadelphia. Surviving are two sons, Frank L. of Allentown and Edgar T.

of Toms River, three grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Kulik Funeral Home, 426 Hanover Allentown. A calling period will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday until services.

Mrs. Nellie H. Heiney Mrs. Nellie H. Heiney, 84, of 934 Richard Bethlehem, died Saturday in St.

Luke's Hospital. She was the widow of Walter E. Heiney. She worked at Smoyer's Jewelry Store, Allentown, before retiring in 1955. Before that she was a cashier for several area Acmes for 23 years.

Born in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late John and Emma (Getz) Heaney. She was a member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Winifred, wife of James Bath of Bethlehem, and Maybelle, wife of Hardon McFarland of Willow Grove; seven step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the church.

Program to counsel on draft registration Draft registration and options available for conscientious objectors will be the topic of a program at 11 a.m. Jan. 30 in the Lehigh Valley Friends (Quaker) Meetinghouse on Route 512, Hanover Township, Northampton County, a half-mile north of Route 22. Maxine Alper of the Lehigh Valley Committee Against Registration and the Draft (LV CARD) will outline current laws on draft registration and ways for conscientious objectors to respond to the laws. Also speaking will be Joyce Moore of Phillipsburg, who was among the first persons in the nation who were notified that they would be prosecuted for non-compliance with the draft registration law.

He previously was a gaurd for the former American Housing Allentown, for 25 years, and was also employed by the Wearever Aluminum New Kensington, Westmoreland County, for 32 years before moving to Allentown. Born in Zwateny, Syria, he was a son of the late Anthony and Marcy Nicola. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, Allentown. Surviving with his widow are three sons, Adam at home, Daniel S.

of Allentown, and James S. of Me-chanicsburg, Cumberland County; a daughter Diane, wife of James Min-sker of Trenton, 15 grandchil- dren and three great-grandchildren.
