D. Thomas, 86, of Medon, died at 9:30 p.m. Satur day at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at New Union Baptist Church with the Rev.

Jack Carver officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Smith Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Thomas had lived all her life in Hardeman County. She was a Methodist in belief.

She is survived by her husband, R. D. Thomas, to whom she had been married for 53 years; a daughter, Mrs. Neil Northcott of Memphis; two sons, Clyde Thomas of Medon and Samuel Thomas of Donel-son, and three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be C.

O. Barker, Coleman Tims, Sam McMaster, Lacy Granger, W. G. Pyles and Harold Armstrong. Pallbearers are requested to meet at the church at 1:45 p.m.

Monday. Three Air Officers Sail For Hawaii LOS ANGELES (AP) Three Air Force officers put to sea Saturday, planning to sail to Hawaii, where one has been transferred. Lt. Col. Thomas E.

Accompanying Mahoney in the 35-foot sloop "Blue Moon" when it sailed out of Marina Del Rey on Saturday were Maj. Russell D. Brewington, 40, Houston; Col. (Bo) Burress, 277 S. Lindsey Street, a retired pipefitter for the G.M.&O. Railroad, died at 2:45 Saturday morning in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after an illness of two months. He was 67 years of age. Funeral services will be neia this afternoon at 3 from the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev.

Norman Culpepper, pastor of Parkview Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery with Masonic rites at the grave. Mr. Burress was born in Chester County near Henderson, son of the late Saul Burress and Johnnie Johnson Burress. He moved to Jackson with his family at an early age.

He retired in October, 1961, from the G.M.&O. Railroad after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church, Men's Adult Sunday School Class, Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 45, M.W.A. Lodge and Sheet Iron Metal Workers Union.

His wife, Mrs. Minnie Dee Sells Burress, preceded him in death July 30, 1964. Survivors are his daughter, Mrs. J. B.

Meek of Jackson; a granddaughter, Mrs. Keith Chilcutt of Paris; a great-grandson, Richard Keith Chilcutt of Paris; two sisters, Mrs. Obe Latham and Mrs. Frank Rouse of Pinson; a half-sister, Mrs. Robert Strong of Pinson and two half-brothers, Alvie Burress and Brice Burress of Beech Bluff.

His body will be at the funeral home until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Roy Eaves, L. P. Parham, Rudolph Dietrich, Earl Nichols, Clint Newbill and George Lynch. The arquebus, or harquebus, was the first hand gun.

Mrs. Mamie Rogers Dies Saturday Mrs. Mamie Rogers, 59, of 536 S. Royal died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday at Jackson Madison County General Hospital where she had been carried a short time earlier.

She had been a resident of Jackson for the past 17 years. Mrs. Rogers is survived by a son, James Whitehead of Detroit, three sisters, Mrs. Mae Kilzer of Trenton, Mrs. Claude Cagle of Blytheville, and Mrs.

Pauline Spray of Memphis; and three brothers, Murtaugh Cantrell of Trenton, Jack Cantrell of Chicago and Clarence Cantrell of Jackson. The body will be at Smith Funeral Home until time for the services. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Jackson Commandery No. 13 Knights Templar Called Conclave Apr.
