His original songs Hammer and Nails, Prodigal, Christian McBride and Grandma -Can I Take it Home have universal appeal and have delighted audiences at church, civic, youth, and corporate events for years. Mapleton City invites all to come relax in the coolness of the city park June 5.

It's the ideal setting for the brand of music enjoyed at an evening with Matt Bushman. Mapleton City will launch. 1993's Concert in the Park Series with a return performance by Matt Bushman. His unique style of music will be presented this coming Saturday, June 5, at 7 p.m. in Mapleton City park.

This concert is one of many such events scheduled throughout the summer. All are free to the public. An evening with singer, songwriter Matt Bushman never fails to be the perfect way to spend a little time, His manner is warm and unpretentious. Audiences feel as if they are sitting on the back porch having a chat with an old friend. Happily devoid of any synthesized' trappings, this one man show consists of the -I "James Lovell, astronaut on the historical first voyage to the moon in 1968, has accepted the invitation to be the guest speaker at the GATHERING OF EAGLES, an assembly of Eagle Scouts of all ages on Friday, June 11," Brent Haymond, Chairman, announced today.

Haymond said, "Captain Lovell, who is an Eagle Scout, makes an ideal celebrity and speaker for our program to honor Eagle Scouts because of his distinguished career." The astronaut first made history on December 4, 1965 when he and Frank Borman made the Gemini VII manned space flight which included the first rendezvous of two-manned spacecraft. "In 1967, Captain Lovell commanded the Apollo VIII flight, which was the first manned space flight to the moon," Haymond said. Lovell completed four manned space flights, two of which were to the moon, before his retirement in 1973. As a boy, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Milwaukee in 1943 and was presented with the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award (DESA) in 1976. He is the recipient of many decorations for his service in the Navy and in the National Air and Space Administration (NASA) manned space flight program.

"A GATHERING OF EAGLES," a special event honoring eagle Scouts of all ages is planned for Friday evening, June 1 1 at the BYU Marriott Center. "The occasion is being planned to emphasize the values of Scouting in the lives of young, men and to confer a Distinguished Eagle Award in a special ceremony honoring a community and state leader who has made a major contribution to society during his life," Haymond said. Haymond said, "Admission to this special occasion is included in the cost of a Scout-O-Rama family ticket." Haymond said, "Our council awards an unusually high number of Eagle Scouts every year. In 1992 1,826 Scouts earned their Eagle." Matthew Wolsey, son of Steve and Roberta Wolsey of Springville, has been called to serve an LPS mission in Moscow, Russia. He will speak in church on June 6, 1993 at 2:45 p.m.
