p.m. 4. 1000. 024 THE MORNING CALL, SATURDAY, JULY 2, 1988 B27 LOCAL BOBBY ROE The Morning Call A firefighter returns to his truck after helping evacuate passengers. Leap by rowdy rider strands Dorney Skyriders By Of By ROSS KERBER Of The Morning Call Riders on a Dorney Park chairlifttype ride were stranded in midair for up to an hour last night after a car was partially bounced off the cable by a rowdy guest.

Cetronia firefighters evacuated 19 people from the "Skyride" after a safety mechanism shut down the ride. No injuries were reported. Witnesses saw a young man jump from one of the slow-moving chairs at the turnaround, of the ride, causing one of the car's guide pullies to jump the main cable, park officials said. The man left the scene, said Michael Crowther, a spokesman for the amusement park, who said it was unclear whether the man jumped three feet to the top of a concrete support platform at the turnaround or 10feet to the blacktopped ground. Security guards were questioning witnesses for a description.

to 4:30 The man was observed bouncing his car before he jumped, said Crowther, but the pullies stayed on the cable until his jump caused a strong enough bounce. The support pulley held, and the car's safety latch activated, stopping the ride. Firefighters were called because the park will not restart halted rides until they can be inspected, said Crowther. Paramedics also were on the scene. The chairs reach a maximum height of 30 feet over the park.

Each of the ride's 20 cars can carry two people. The restless guest chose the right spot for his leap; the turnaround is the low point of the ride. "The guy was crazy, but not stupid," Crowther said, as firefighters used a platform to evacuate the guests. The stranded guests will be given free passes to both Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, according to Crowther. 135 Lost 140 Found 145 Business Opportunities 150 Money 155 Insurance 160 Distributors EMPLOYMENT 200 Professional Employment 205 Health Care Employment 210 Business Employment 215 Management Employment 220 Trades-Industry Employment 225 Miscellaneous Employment 227 Retail Employment 230 Sales Employment 235 Wanted 240 CLINESE Howard A.
