Trump, president of the Trump Organization, New York City, will deliver the principal address at Lehigh University's 120th commencement exercises June 5 in Stabler Arena. Trump, well-known for his buildings in New York City and Atlantic City, also will receive an honorary doctor of laws degree. Trump said his brother, the late Frederick C. Trump Jr., was a a 1960 Lehigh graduate. Fha ffM Xc Trump, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance, is a major participant in the New York real estate market. His holdings include Trump Tower, a 68-story, $200-million skyscraper, Trump Plaza, a luxury cooperative, and the Grand Hyatt Hotel, a 1,500-room facility next to and connecting with Grand Central Terminal. Under construction is Trump Pare, a 350-unit condominium near Central Park. Trump also owns a large share of Alexander's Inc., a retail operation with facilities in the city, Long Island and New Jersey. Trump recently undertook the project of completing Wollman Skating Rink in Central Park, which had been under construction by the city for more than six years at a cost of $12 million. He completed the rink in four months at a cost of $3 million. In Atlantic City, Trump has two hotels, the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino and Trump's Castle Hotel and Casino. Earlier this year, he acquired voting control in Resorts International Inc., which holds Resorts I, already in operation. Under construction is a hotel to be called the Taj Mahal. The resorts acquisition also includes three hotels in Paradise Island in the Bahamas. A New York City native, Trump has prvpH as co-chairman of the New York Vietnam Memorial Fund and is a founding member of the committee to complete construction of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Trump is special adviser to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. In 1984, he received the first Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Wharton Entrepreneurial Club and has been elected to the Wharton Hall of Fame. He serves as director of the Fred C. Trump Foundation, and was recently appointed chairman of the New York Citizens Committee for the 78th Annual NAACP Convention. The announcement of the speaker was made by Lehigh President Peter Likins and Jeffrey D. Enslin, president of this year's senior class. At Lehigh, the senior class works in conjunction with the administration in selecting a commencement speaker. "Lehigh is extremely pleased to have Donald Trump as its commencement speaker," said Likins.
