-j'P) The Reconstruction Finance Corporation can give you almost immediate delivery on nearly, anything from a dime's worth of rat poison up to a million dollar factory wtth no red In it's virtually a cash-on-the-barrelhead proposition according to M. E. Everett of Atlanta, regional director of RFC in Georgia, Florida. Alabama and Tennessee. Nationally, he said, the RFC disposed of surplus goods up to March 31 that cost the government some $19,579,000.

The recovery was in round figures. In all, Everett said, the government will have $1,255,864,000 worth of factories, tools, and goods to dispose of one-half of which will be unsalable military aircraft. But "We have no jeeps," Everett said. "They would have to come through the Surplus Property Division of the Treasury Department, and I understand they have none for sale right now. We'll sell you almost anything else." Such as? "Airplanes, electric power plants, paint, chemicals, air conditioning units, ventilating fans, electric wiring and motors, pipe and pipe fittings, scales, thermostats, electric switches, power brakes, jig saws, power tools, commercial refrigerators oh, all kinds of things." Just how would one go about (Signal Corps Radio-Telephoto from NEA) Dachau Last Word In Savagery, Say Men Of Rainbow Division By LOUIS P.

LOCHNER DACHAU, Germany, May 1 JP) Every soldier, officer and war correspondent attached to the 42nd Rainbow) Division of the U. S. Seventh Army today had one word seared into his soul "Dachau." It represents the last word in savagery, depravity, sadism and inhumanity. Here human being were experimented on as though they were guinea pigs, were eliminated by slow starvation and their bodies burned wholesale in a gigantic crematory. Thirty-five railway cars loaded with corpses emaciated literally to skin and bones are lined up outside the camp.

Among Dachau's 2,000 inmates are some 1,400 living corpses. These were the survivors of about 4,000 who had been shipped, according to the best information available, from Buchenwald before the Allies took that northern concentration camp. They had been squeezed like cattle into freight cars, where they were kept for 21 days 80 to a car. According to their testimony they were left without food for five days, and thereafter given mere scraps. In the crematory there was- a stench that made the strongest men turn pale and flee to the outside for air.

In 4wo rooms of this institution were naked human bodies, bearing the signs of horrible torture and piled to the ceiling. The SS (Elite Guard) guards had been unable to complete their task of burning the emaciated bodies, though they worked in shifts of 30, two and one-half hours per shift, and kept at it day and night. There was evidence that a section of the prison camp had been given over to scientific experimentation on human beings to study the effects of various types of gas, varying air pressure, degrees of cold arid serums. In February 6,204 deaths were recorded officially at the camp, from execution or other causes, of these 4,007 were Jews. It was bad enough to have been taken prisoner, but insult was added to injury for the German officers at right when they had to watch doughboys of the 30th Infantry Division crossing the Weser River as Yanks forged deeper into Germany.

Time-Tested Spred Washable, Water-Thinned PAINT COVERS OLD WALL PAPER IN ONE COAT Reconsideration Of Commission's Action Asked By Phone Co. NASHVILLE, May 1. V-The Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company asked today reconsideration of the State Railroad and Public Utilities Commission's action in re-opening its intra-state rate case, as the hearing began this morning. Declaring that the "rate of return on intra-state business continues downward," because of rising costs, the company declared it anticipated sharply increased costs, particularly because of wage adjustments sought by the Southern Federation of Telephone Workers. W.

E. Duncan, Tennessee manager for the company, said in his motion to dismiss that representatives of the union, in negotiations which began last January, "demanded of the company wage rate increases and other adjustments that would involve additional expenditures of approximately $20,000,000 per year for the company as a whole, of which about $2,430,000 would be chargeable to operating expenses for Tennessee." In a counter proposal, Duncan said, the company offered wage adjustments which would represent an increase of $7,000,000, of which $850,000 would be chargeable to Tennessee were broken off Feb. 28, and the matter is now in the hands of the War Labor Board. He said the company "cannot reasonably hope for a less increase in wage payments for the year 1945 than that represented by its offer to the labor representatives. The resulting increase in Tennessee operating expenses will substantially reduce the company's already inadequate returns of Tennessee operations." The Commission sought, beginning in 1941, a reduction of intrastate long distance rates in line with the reduction on inter-state rates.

In January, 1944, the company and Commission agreed on a settlement which would save consumers $180,000 per year, Duncan said. The new rates became effective Feb. 26, 1944. Last May, however, the Commission re-opened the case, seeking a further reduction. Favors Committee Lt.

I believe that your editorial is very timely, and, inasmuch as committees have been set up in many cities in the United States, some of which are much smaller than Jackson, I suggest that you lead a movement here through the columns of your paper to set up a similar committee to function under this peace charter." Recently I was in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and was advised by the Vice President and General Manager of the Mississippi Central Railroad Company that such a committee had been set up in Hattiesburg, he being temporary chairman.

Spring Clean-Up Gets Farm Hazards Spring celan-up time time to clean hazards around the farmstead which might cause injury.

Results of a study by the National Safety Councol show that one out if five disabling accidents are due to disorder, say Extension home management specialists of the U-T College of Agriculture. With farm labor shortages and demands for increased food production, the farmer cannot afford to lose the services of farm workers through accidents. A day spent now to eliminate farm danger spots may result in the saving of many days during the rush season later on. the specialist points out. Now is a good time to check through the farm shop and see that hammer and axe handles are secure and in good condition.

If there is not a definite place for every tool room should be provided. It is a good idea to paint the outline of the tool behinnd its place in the tool cabinet or on the shop walL Keeping tools in their right places saves time and reduces injury hazards. Are ladders and steps in good repair? Have broken spots in flooring been fixed. Are stairway handrails solid? Are stairways clear of obstructions? Unless all these questions can be answered with a "yes" the clean up job is not finished. Loose materials, unused lumber and farm equipment stored overhead on the rafters of farm buildings ofter result in serious Occidents.

Accumulations of barbed wire, glass and other materials increase the accident hazards and detract from the appearance of the farmstead.
