Western English Complete Outfitting for Horse Rider Soul Music," sax player Charlie DeChantz, drummer Chuck Burgi lead guitarist Jeff Southworth, and bassist John Siegler showed the audience their talents. DeChantz, dressed in a bright red tux, by far made the best impression, jumping out into the audience and wailing. Hall and Oates, originally from the Philadelphia area and now based in New York, are known for their knack of combining '60s' music, Motown, rock and new wave.

The band demonstrated its widespread appeal with the popy "Ditte Do Wa," the new wave sounding "United State" and "You Lost That Lovin' Feeling. Hall and Oates are just about finished with their forthcoming album, possibly to be called "Head Above Water." But they didn't showcase any songs from the album. The band is on a three-week tour, mostly of East Coast colleges. Four Out of Five Doctors opened for Hall and Oates. The crowd gave the new wave band a lukewarm response.

The show was produced by Makoul Productions. By BEV SWEENEY Of The Morning Call You'd think that with 12 albums to their credit and a 13th on the way Daryl Hall and John Oates might be tired and bored with life on the road. But Thursday night at Lehigh University's Stabler Arena, the duo and their band proved that they still have the spirit and energy of a newly-formed band. Despite the sporadic response of the 3,200 people most of them as well-dressed as they were well-behaved Hall and Oates, the professionals they are, shone throughout their 15-song, 90-minute performance. They even came back at the urging of the audience for three encores.

Hall and Oates opened with "How Does It Feel To Be Back" and continued with favorites such as "Rich Girl," "Sarah Smile" and "She's Gone." The choir-like harmonies the duo produced during these songs made the audience feel as though it was in heaven. The rich harmonies also were strikingly apparent on "Kiss On My List," from the band's recently released LP, which marked the band's first solo attempt at producing. Although the audience came to see Daryl and John, the two didn't let their fellow band members go unnoticed. Following the bluesy number "Sweet 95 Lunberg BROWN RICE 2 lbs.
