Kansas sr )sOORs A-fCll. Trenton-Milan Came Is Tonight Trenton's Peabody High Tidesmen will defend their unbeaten Big Ten record against Milan High School tonight. A general misunderstanding that the game would be played Friday night, according to early-eason schedules from both schools, was corrected today by Trenton officials. The game will be played on Freed Field at Trenton. Two Gridders On Knox Squad Shown Ineligible The selective military service registration has done a good turn to the Jackson High Golden Bears if weakening an opponent is a good thing.

The Associated Press reported today, on information received from the Knoxville News-Sentinel, that the registration showed two members of Knox County Central High's undefeated football team are ineligible. The names of Dave Cawrse, tackle, and Nolan Thomas, fullback, appeared in the list of youths registering for the draft. That automatically means they are above the 20-year-age limit for playing, it was pointed out. Only comment from Central's Coach Harvey Robinson was the terse statement: "The facts are true." The unbeaten East Tennesseans play Jackson High in Jackson Stadium on November 15. difference in strength with Trenton making 6 to Humboldt's 3.

The first string squad went through a light limbering up in preparation for Milan, who journeys over to play Trenton in the Tide's last home game. The starting lineup will be up to par, with McBride, Bennett and Jones back in place after suffering minor injuries. Milan will be one of the remaining Big Ten hurdles for a championship. The count thus far has left the Peabody Golden Tide well out in the lead with four wins and no losses. The game will be played on Freed Field at 8:00 o'clock with Dumas, Franklin, and Johnson officiating.

The Bears will go tomorrow night- to Dyersburg to face a squad ap parently growing steadily In strength and ability under the tutelage of Coach Ralph Hatley. Union's gridders will leave either tomorrow or Saturday morning for Jonesboro, Arkansas, to tangle with Arkansas State Teachers in an afternoon game. The Bears ran through their final light workout this afternoon with emphasis on getting down the latest backfield shift which has placed light, speedy Everett Balkum on the wing and former Fullback Shaky Simmons at blocking back. Jack Brown, out part of the week because of injuries, was back at his tailback slot yesterday as the plays were carefully checked. Nick Waller has been given the chief call at fullback.

Considerable work with Jack Voegeli at tailback while Brown was laid up indicated that Voegeli will see a good deal of service in that spot, but Kenneth Dowdell's presence for any length of time at fullback was made doubtful because of sickness which kept him off the field Monday and Tuesday. The line Is expected to be the name, with Herbert Hoover and Jack Cole on ends. Bill Hammonds and Cedric Johnson at tackles. Earl Nichols and Frank Baird at guards, and Charley Hoover at center. On "Death Valley," meanwhile, the Bulldogs checked constantly on timing and execution of unfamiliar plays, keeping a close guard against injuries.

Despite the check, there were a few minor ailments but none that appeared serious enough to cause Brewed in the hills il Wisconsin with artesian well water by expert brewers, this all-grain, mellow-smooth brew is available in 8 ox. bottles at your favorite bar. Will Nathan Wilson, who has seen no real service for weeks because of an injured ktgee, began to look like himself again yesterday at the fullback slot. After a number of treatments had failed to help Wilson regain complete confidence in his knee, a last trial this week and careful taping have put it into shape where he can quit worrying about it. Coach Fred DeLay may hold him out at the start, it was believed, but if nothing happens to the knee he will probably be in the game for a large part of the time. If Army Should Trip Notre Dame Credit Heffner WEST POINT, Oct. 31.

(A) If it's in the books that Army should register the greate? upset of the season by tripping Notre Dame this Saturday, you can credit the victory to a player whose name won't even appear In the program. Not only that, but the new West Point hero will be hundreds of miles removed from Yankee Stadium. New York, the scene of battle. He will be lying flat on his back in a hospital at Hot Springs, Ark. Just First Downs Would Satisfy Ranger Barkers RANGER. Oct 31. OP) The pep squad at Ranger High School makes a lot of noise but instead of yelling "we want a touchdown" it's "we want a first down." Ranger has played six games; hasn't scored a point. Opponents have run up 274. Local fans take the losses philosophically and with good humor.

They didn't expect much and they're pleased with the spirit of the boys who never miss practice and take it on the chin each Friday to pep rallies and announcements about the homecoming game against the Corporals. President R. E. Womack of Lambuth has declared that there will be no classes Saturday morning so the students and faculty alike may participate in homecoming "to the fullest extent." Alumni tournaments are planned In the morning of the big day with class reunions and fraternity and sorority get-to-gcthers scheduled for the afternoon. The afternoon of homecoming will be climaxed with a motorcade through the city.

The parade from all indications will be the largest ever held in connection with a football game in Jackson. There is no figure to date on th number of cars that will be in line as yet, but the cheerleaders, who are diligently working for the big event, have said they hoped for over a hundred automobiles. At six o'clock Saturday night at the Armory, the homecoming dinner will be held. Reserations are to be made with Miss Helen Womack, registrar of the college. Nearly all the students and faculty members of the college will be present for the feast with approxl- mately 200 alumni expected.

The first six-man game ever to be played at Rothrock Field will take place at 8:30 Saturday night. Tickets for the game will be sold at the gate. Coach Frank Cheney charges have been working hard this past week in anticipation for the McKenzie lads. The gridders have taken on a different aspect, rcalw-ing that the entire college is behind them and with the ganrva being played for the first time under lights at Jackson Stadium, the squad will be playing under a natural psychological strain. Starters for the all-important game are in doubt due to the constant shifting of players by Cheney in order to secure the best possible six The line, from all Indications, will be composed of W.

Phone 69 Couple Of Gridiron Thrillers Ready For Southeastern Conference Fans GET6 FILL Illinois Aide Says The Irish Top Michigan CHICAGO, Oct.

31. (JP) Nobody seems to know just how good the Notre Dame football team is, but one coach says that the talented Irish are better than Michigan. This is the unqualified opinion of Doug Mills, one of Bob Zuppke's trusted aides at Illinois, which played both teams. "Notre Dame's strength is in its great store of reserves," Mills quoted Zuppke as saying after the Irish slapped a 26-0 defeat on the Illini Saturday. "In beating the drums for Fullback Milt Piepul, may have overlooked the brilliant work of Steve Juzwik, right halfback at Notre Dame," Mills added.

"Yet Zuppke maintains that Juzwik is as good as Tom Harmon of Michigan." That's about as high praise as you can give a football player at this time. Although Duke and Clemson, the big guns of the Southern Conference, have a more impressive rating in the season's record books, anything can happen in these two bitter inter-conference series.

Clemson hasn't been beaten since its 7-6 defeat by Tulane a year ago, and will be seeking an 11th straight victory. The Tigers have licked five opponents this year, stacking up 150 points to 20 for the opposition. Tulane, undefeated in 1939, start ed off this year by dropping three games, but came back brilliantly to stop Rice 15-6 and North Carolina 14-13. The Greenies have scored only 57 points to 86 for their foes. Tech's Engineers entrain tonight for Duke's "homecoming at Durham.

They will spend Saturday night in Chapel Hill. The Engineers, who haven't beaten Duke in four years, will be without the services of Bobby Pair, counted out for the season with a bad knee.
