The game was originally scheduled for tomorrow night in Northampton. The announcement was made last night by Dr.

Robert N. Grove, schools superintendent in Northampton. Teachers, represented by the Northampton Area Educators Association, struck the district Sept. 2. All extracurricular activities ceased Sept.

11. The Kids tied Allen 7-7 on Sept. 5, but had to cancel their game against Liberty after the extracurricular activities were suspended. No other activities are affected. Northampton season-ticket holders can use their passes at the game.

Meanwhile. theEmmaus-Easton football game scheduled for tomorrow night in Emmaus is still "up in the air." Emmaus Athletic Director Frank Roberts told The Morning Call. "Easton has refused to play us Friday night if Emmaus insists on Friday night. Easton will forfeit." Roberts said Saturday night is out for Emmaus because of "financial arrangements." The subject will come up at the 8 :30 a.m. meeting of the East Penn Conference today at Dieruff Montreal (16): HOME (61 Sept.

"Im glad we won. I'm glad I helped contribute," said Maddox. who singled, then stole second and third and scored on a pinch-single by Del Unser to snap an llth-inning tie and give the Philadelphia Phillies a 5-4 victory over the Pirates. The Phillies' win. coupled with Montreal Expos' 5-2 loss to the New York Mets.

moved Philadelphia to within 1 games of the first-place Expos in the National League East. But the Pirates remained five games back, and they have no more games left this season with Montreal or Philadelphia. "That was a nice baseball game to win." beamed Philadelphia Manager Dallas Green. "You can chalk that one up to Garry Maddox. We had him stealing second base, but he stole third on his own.

And that was the big play that we needed." The Philadelphia victory came despite a determined comeback by the Pirates, who battled back from a 4-1 deficit against Steve Carlton to tie the game with a three-run seventh inning. 'After we tied it up we felt the way we did last year." said Pirate catcher Steve Nicosia. "We hadn't come back in a long time. We really felt like momentum had switched to our side. But we just didn't do anything more after that." The Phillies finished with just seven victories in 18 meetings this season with the Pirates, and Philadelphia was 2-7 at Three Rivers Stadium.

"You can't sell Pittsburgh short," said Green. "Pittsburgh is a good ball team and they have the capability of coming back. But it's tough when you're chasing two teams." The winning run was allowed by Pirates reliever Kent Tekulve, who fell to 8-10 with'his fifth loss in his last five decisions. Tug McGraw, 2-4, got the victory and Sparky Lyle pitched the bottom of the Uth to earn his first National League save. "There never was anybody who said it was going to be easy." said Tekulve.

"This is about as far back as we can get." "We'll be root in' for whoever is playing Montreal." said McGraw. "You can't help but do that." McGraw added. "Bui we have six games with the Expos and that's going to do a lot in deciding who wins. That might be it right there." Bill Robinson led off the Pirates' seventh with his 12th homer, and Phil Garner and Steve Nicosia followed with two-out singles. Kurt Bevacqua then batted for pitcher Bert Blyleven and tied the game with a two-run double to left-center.

The Phillies took a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning on a bases-loaded walk to Mike Schmidt and Greg Luzinski's two-run double off the left-field wall. Lee Lacy led off the Pirate fifth with his seventh homer, but Carlton drove in another Philadelphia run in the sixth with a sacrifice fly. Brett needs 55 more plate appearances to reach the 502 needed to qualify for the title, but he had been out of action since the hand became sore during a game Sept. 6. One of the two blemishes on the Stoners' home record was a 1-1 tie with Sacramento back on May 30. It was McDermott who scored the Stoners' goal in that game.

The Sacramento goal was scored by Anselmo Vicioso, who will miss tonight's game due to an injury. The only other time the conference champions met was when the Stoners beat the Spirit in Sacramento 2-1 on goals by Kenny McDonald and George Gorleku. "And I hope tomorrow's (tonight's) game isn't like thai one." said Ehrlich. "That was as bad as the blood ampton County Area Community College practice field with an arm over each other's shoulder. Coach Willie Ehrlich watched as they walked away.

There was a gloss in his eyes. "That's one reason right there why we will win this championship," he said, "These guys are so together. They cook for each other; they play for each other: they fight for each other, sometimes even against me. It 's an unbelievable bunch of guys." Close to 10.000 Lehigh Valleyites are expected to converge on Allentown School District Stadium this evening in hopes of seeing the Stoners capture the American Soccer League championship by repelling defending champion Sacramento. Game time is 7 05.

The Stoners, 13-1-1 on their home turf, and 20-5-5 overall, are the oddsmakers' favorite over the Spirit formerly the Gold which compiled a 13-13-2 regular-season mark, then won one and tied one in the semifinal playoff triumph over the California Sunshine. "I hope there's not a letdown after that incredible New York series." said McDermott. who scored one of the goals in the 3-1 semifinal clincher last Sunday. "It scares me. because everybody was saying that series was really the finals." Again Tipping interrupted.

"There won't be any letdown. John. You know how badly the guys want this. It would be awfully stupid to come this far then blow the whole thing." Pennsylvania Stoner Johnny McDermott sounded a bit choked up. "I just realized this was the last time we will have practice," he said.

"I can't believe it. I've lived with these guys for six months; practiced with them twice a day listened to their problems, and asked help from them with my problems. God, suddenly I feel empty." "Cheer up, John, ol' boy." interrupted Captain Jeff Tipping. McDermott's apartment-renting companion. "Just think about all the girls you met."
