Some Streams of Utah Still Open SALT LAKE CITY Oct 4 The Utah fish and game department has been flooded with inquiries on whether this stream or that lake is still open for fishing To bring sportsmen up to date on the fishing law Director Ross Leonard of the Utah fish and game department today clarified the fishing piture for Beehive state sportsmen Already closed to fishing are one-third consecutive hitless innings against them The freshman righthander held them hitless in one and two-third innings last Tuesday There were many spots where a hit would have changed the complexion of the game but the turning point was when Carl Furillo who was playing in center field in place of the injured Pete Reiser fouled off two attempted sacrifice bunts with Bruce Edwards on first base in the seventh inning and nobody out With two away pinch hitter Arky Vaughan smashed a double off the right field wall and for a moment it looked like a replica of Lavagetto's double which scored a runner from first base But this time Tommy Hen-rich played the rebound perfectly and Edwards had to hold up at third The catching in this series has been anything but commendable what with numerous stolen bases wild throws to head off runners and base stealers dropped third strikes and passed balls Edwards was saved a passed ball when he recovered a Hugh Casey pitch which had bounded off his mitt and threw to the pitcher to nip Henrich at the plate It was Casey's fourth appearance in five world series games He needs only one more to tie Deacon Phillippe's record of appearing in five world series games in 1903 Phillippe won three and lost two games for Pittsburgh against the Boston Red Sox Stanky 2b 3 zzzReiser 0 Miksis 2b Reese ss 2 Robinson lb JnH Walker rf i4 LOS ANGELES Oct 4 Commercial
