Alfred Bowers, 18, was dead on arrival about 4: 15 p.m. at arren Hospital. Warren County Medical Examiner John Burke and police are withholding accident details until completion of an autopsy and interview of possible witnesses, expected later today, authorities said. Mrs. Eleanora M.

Blacker Mrs. Eleanora M. Blacker, 93. of the Topton Lutheran Home, died Tuesday in the home. She was a housemother at the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing before retiring in 1963.

Born in Bethlehem. Mrs. Blacker was a daughter of the late Edmund and Mary Jane (Licht Walter. She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hanover Avenue.

Times editor NEW YORK API Theodore Bernstein, retired editor of the New York Times and a highly regarded authority on the use of the English language, died of cancer Wednesday. He was 74. Bernstein joined the Times in 1925 and served as news editor and assistant managing editor. He was in charge of all World War II coverage for the newspaper. In 1960.

he founded the newspaper's international edition in Paris and was its editor. Bernstein wrote a number of books, including "Watch Your Language." "More Language That Needs Watching." "The Careful Writer." and "Dos. Donts and Maybes of English Usage." He supervised and developed the in-house Times publication "Winners and Sinners." a newsletter that notes the shortcomings in the writing of Times staffers and praises examples of good writing. Originally intended only for the Times' staff. "Winners and Sinners" eventually became the subject of study outside the newspaper's headquarters influencing other newspapers, publishing firms and students.

Bernstein is survived by a son Eric. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan. Cora S. Hiestand Cora S. Hiestand.

formerly of Allentown, was fatally injured Tuesday night during a fight outside a downtown bar in Hilo. Hawaii. Antolick. who had lived in Hilo for three years, died at Wednesday in a Hilo hospital, six hours after he was injured. Sgt.

John Kalawe of the Hilo police attributed death to brain damage received when Antolick apparently was knocked to the pavement. Kalawe said a suspect is in custody. He said the two men were involved in an argument inside the bar and continued outside on the sidewalk. The suspect will not be identified until charges are filed. Antolick was a floral designer in Hawaii for the past nine years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of Michael and Sue P. Uhercik Antolick of Allentown. Surviving with his parents are three brothers. Michael Jr. of Jacksonville.

Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Andrew and Barbara Hydro I Evanko. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Nesquehoning. Evanko was an Army veteran of World War II. serving in the European and Pacific Theaters.

Surviving with his widow are three sons. Joseph of Hazleton. Eugene of Nesquehoning and Andrew of Lehigh-ton two brothers. George in New Jersey and John of Nesquehoning: six sisters. Mrs.

Mary Hunadi. Mrs. Anna Gogal and Mrs. Sue Hadnagy. all of Nesquehoning.
